Busy place on a Friday. Ordered Togo in person. Live about 10 minutes away. Cheese bread (mozzarella) was… okay. Should have gotten the knots. Pizza was good, but I would not consider it the best in Alabama. At least getting ToGo. Size was larger than normal which is a bonus. The sauce is A+. Oh, and service was great.

They have very good pizza here and it’s definitely NY style! I eat pizza in every town and state I go to and I would eat here again for sure! They remind me of my favorite pizza place in Duluth, GA called Gordo’s.

The garlic knots are not the best I have and remind me of a canned product, but they were not bad.

This placed lived up to everything good thing I heard about it. A few years ago it was voted best pizza in Alabama and that’s a legit title. The Sicilian was massive with thick, chewy crust and a naturally sweet tomato sauce that loaded with tons of mozzarella. Delicious and I can’t wait to try the traditional crusts and the stuffed pizza.

Went on a Saturday at around 6 pm. I’ve never felt so ostracized in my life. Every single person, except for one waitress, was white. Didn’t even want to pick up my order after placing it. Got the Alfredo pizza in XL and 6 or 8 wings with ranch for $50. Pizza tastes like the Alfredo pizza from Papa Johns. Didn’t even taste like authetic pizza from Italy. Go to Antico’s in ATL for the real deal.

It took two people to take a drink order. The salad had 3 pieces of onion laying on a pile of lettuce and a small slice of tomato. This meat sauce taste like onions uncooked. We got to go and it was a lot to pay for something you can’t eat. Think twice!!!

After reading some of the reviews here with folks taking exception to what they perceive as lackluster customer service, I felt compelled to write my own review of this fine establishment. The important question to ask yourself regarding pizza is simple: would I consider entering into a cage fight with a group of old nuns just for a bite of this pizza? If the answer is yes, then you have yourself a winner. Such is the case with Carpenetti’s. In the pizzaverse of Alabama, much has been left to be desired in terms of getting your hands on a pie that doesn’t taste like halfassery incarnate. Too often it seems that the recipe for pizza success is to slap a few zesty vowels on a neon sign, throw in “brick fired” or some other such descriptor, and voila! Unfortunately, clever marketing does not a good pizza make. To be clear, I don’t know what makes a good pizza, but I do know where to find one, and that’s at Carpenetti’s. Which brings us to the issue of customer service and atmosphere. If you’re looking for a next level dining experience that will both feed your childlike need for affirmation and your literal stomach, then perhaps you might be better off seeking other pizza destinations. If you cannot possibly stomach a dining experience that doesn’t include the well trained facade of congeniality and homegrown Southern charm, then I will say that Moody and the greater St Clair County area do offer other culinary options that can and will meet those needs. If you want the best damn pizza in the state of Alabama and don’t mind that the employees aren’t giving off free hug vibes, or that the restaurant has the operating hours of an arctic post office, or that the atmosphere is like someone froze time just as your great aunt lit up a Virginia Slim at Showbiz Pizza, then you, my friends, are in luck. If Carpenetti’s ever starts marketing themselves as the bestest most friendliest lil’ pizza joint in town, then I’ll rewrite this whole thing. As it stands now, they just advertise the best pizza, and that’s what they’ve got. So, enjoy and try not to get in your feels when they don’t make you feel good about your inside boo boos. It’s a pizzeria. Maybe one day when it becomes Carpenetti’s Pizza and Cognitive Therapy, all will be right with the world. Until then, embrace the best pie in Bama.

Excellent service. Walked in for the first time after hearing about it for almost 20 years. I kind of didn’t know what I wanted and was asking questions about price and time frame on a large pepperoni, the lady was patient with me and super nice. The pizza was done sooner than the quoted time of 25 minutes. Love that! Before I left she offered to refill my drink which is hella dope when ordering takeout. Be back in 30 minutes to review the pizza after I eat it…. WOW it’s HUUUUUUUGE. Pizza was overall pretty good, lots of cheese, crust was tasty. The sauce was good. The coke from the soda fountain was on point! Overall a good expirience, and not a bad pricepoint, i believe a small is under 10 bucks and the large is right under 20, but its so big that you’ll likely be full after 2 slices or less. Is it my favorite tasting pizza? No, but its definitely not bad, and if i had a choice between going to get dominoes, papa johns, or carpenetti’s i’d come here. It would be a great spot to eat inside. Very homey, family feel, got that red and white plaid tablecloth and brick walls if i remember correctly. If i lived a little closer id probably come a lot more often.

Large pepperoni and a coke, 23 dollars.
Fed me and my roomate two and three times respectively.

I can actually say that his advertisement on Facebook is 100% correct! He does have the best pizza in Alabama! Super nice people and very apt to get your food out in record time!

We’ve eaten here many times and I’ve never been to a place that makes you feel like you’re putting them out by just coming to pick up your order more than Carpenetti’s. The pizza is just okay, nothing to scream about. The people there are incredibly rude and the pizza certainly doesn’t justify the way they act when you come to pick up your order. You’re better off going to Pizza Hut or Papa John’s than here.

Honestly wouldn’t purchase from them again. The pizzas are way overpriced. Papa Johns seriously costs less and tastes better. Wish i loved this place, but just couldn’t!
