We came here during restaurant week and definitely felt it was a great deal for 3 courses! We made a reservation online a few days before and were seated immediately. We started with 2 different types of dumplings, kimchi & pork and veggie dumplings. They came out hot, fresh and crispy! And absolutely delicious and both had great flavor. they both came with chili sauce to dip with but it was not spicy. This was my favorite course of the meal. For the second course, we ordered the tonkatsu ramen, which in my opinion, was only alright. It was pretty salty and didn’t have much flavor. The pork was big and the best part of the ramen for me! The portion was pretty big and we took the remainder to go. Lastly, we ordered the yuzu cake, which was sadly a huge disappointment. It tasted just like a dry, plain pound cake and had no yuzu flavor whatsoever. Our waitress was nice and attentive and kindly packaged our food to go.

We had the to the tonkotsu and the siho. Delicious broth with the tonkotsu and extra pork belle. Service was exceptional. Paid attention to our request. And great suggestion. Finish with matcha ice cream and other dessert was a ice cream cookies with a but crunch.

Cute spot to eat, every time we passed by it was always super busy so we wanted to try it out. Only reason for 4 stars was because we asked for our appetizer 3 times before having it taken off the bill.
We got tonkotsu ramen & Shoyu ramen.

Dashi nails the balance between cozy ramen shop and lively izakaya. We started with kimchi (bright and spicy), duck skewers (smoky and tender), and wagyu sliders (rich, juicy, and topped with kimchi — a must-order).

For ramen, the chicken bowl was light and clean with silky broth, while the tonkotsu was creamy, porky comfort with charred belly and a jammy egg. Both were excellent in their own style.

The warm bar vibe and crisp cocktails tied it all together.

Best traditional ramen around. Sit upstairs got a different experience. The wings are spectacular. Sam was an amazing server who offered superb guidance and helped make our evening extra special. We love this place.

TL;DR:
The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, but the ramen is incredibly bland. I ate about half before deciding it wasn’t worth finishing. If you’ve had genuinely good ramen, probably even decent ramen this will be very disappointing. I also now think the bad ramen reviews I intially saw are from people who have actually had good ramen. I would suggest trying something else on the menu.

I was wanting some ramen and the pictures online looked good, so I decided to check it out. I actually hate giving this place a bad score. The vibe of this place really reminds me of Japan and how many ramen shops are cozy, compact restaurants.

Unfortunately, I went here for ramen.

When I was deciding which ramen to get, I looked at the menu online and noticed some reviews saying the option I was originally going to get wasn’t very good, and the miso had more flavor so I decided to go with the miso ramen instead. I now understand the point they were trying to make with that comment. The presentation of the ramen was nice, but quite honestly it was very bland. It’s probably the worst ramen I’ve ever had. Ramen noodles you get from the grocery store have more flavor.

I ate about half of it before I realized I was just forcing myself to eat it and decided against doing that. It really was the most bland ramen I’ve ever had. I also felt the noodles were slightly undercooked. I didn’t complain or anything, I just quietly decided to stop eating bad ramen and asked for my bill.

The spoon they give you is also not ideal. It seems more for show than actual use, being awkwardly wide. If you go here, I’d suggest probably trying something other than the ramen.

We absolutely love this spot. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the ramen is outstanding, and every dish we ordered was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor.

We almost didn’t come because of some of the lower ratings, but our experience couldn’t have been better. Everything felt fresh, well-executed, and welcoming from start to finish.

Our whole family had a fantastic dinner, and it will definitely be on our list every time we’re back in Durham visiting Duke.

Food was terrible, it had no flavor, it was like drinking water. As an asian, I can’t recommend it. Service was slow and we had to ask for pepper and salt for the ramen to at least taste like something.

Food is decent quality. Ive loved everything- small dishes, apps, deserts except for the ramen. Ramen its not terrible, but definitely the worst of the 5+ ramen places ive been to in the triangle. Just poorly balanced and 50% of the time its too salt. For the quality and small portion I cant say it’s really worth it.

Service had much to be desired. Half the time Im not provided utensils or napkins and have to grab my own anf end up using the tiny cocktail napkins instead. Additionally, I sat for around 20 minutes after finishing a meal waiting to get checked out and was completely ignored (even after pushing all my dishes to the side to indicate I wanted to leave). Not super fun after working a long day and wanting to get home quick after eating out.

I dont think it was the bartenders fault though. Having 1 person man a bar that size and prepare cocktails is horrible. The poor service is on management, the tender was doing moving non stop the entire time making drinks for the up and downstairs and trying to take orders for 8 people. Really felt for thr guy and ended up still leaving a good tip cause I could tell he tried his best.

Atmosphere is fairly nice.

Went here last night and we got the wagyu sliders, which were amazing, and tonkotsu ramen. Tonkotsu is my favorite, and I could say a lot of good things about the broth, noodles, and egg, but I’m really here to rave about the pork belly. It was crispy, juicy, and melt-in-your-mouth perfect. Literally the best pork belly I’ve ever had. The atmosphere was great and everyone working was super nice. Highly recommend if you’re in downtown Durham.
