I had a deeply concerning experience at this Applebee’s that absolutely needs to be addressed. During our visit last night, our waitress slipped on a wet floor where no “wet floor” sign had been placed. None of her coworkers stepped in to help her, and her manager, Tyler, told her she had to go home instead of ensuring she received proper medical care or emotional support. A short time later, I witnessed her slip again in around the exact same spot — still with no caution sign present. Only after she fell twice did someone finally put out a “wet floor” sign, which should have been there from the beginning.
When she came to check on our table, she was visibly shaken. I offered her a hug which she graciously accepted (this was from a complete stranger- not even her work “teammate”). She broke down crying, showed me her bleeding finger, and explained that she was being sent home after getting hurt on the job. It was heartbreaking to see an employee in that condition with absolutely no support from her team. My boyfriend and I did what we could to show her kindness. He gave her an extremely generous tip to make her night a little less stressful but it was clear she had been left to navigate this alone.
Before we left, the manager came to our table and asked how everything was. I told him exactly what had happened. His only response was, “I’m sorry about that.” That was it. No concern for her safety, no acknowledgment of the seriousness of the situation, no accountability. His reaction demonstrated a complete lack of empathy, leadership skills, and basic customer service skills. This is unacceptable behavior from anyone in a management position.
As a side note: the food didn’t help the experience either. My Southwest Chicken Bowl was less than desirable, overwhelmed by copious amounts of what tasted like three‑day‑old guacamole. The only things that made the night even remotely bearable were the chips and queso and my frozen mudslide (a huge “THANK YOU” to the bartender.
This was not a minor issue — it was a serious safety failure and a clear example of poor management. I sincerely hope this location takes immediate action to address these problems, because what I witnessed should never happen in any workplace.

P.S. To the marketing team: please do not respond with your usual copy‑and‑paste line about being “Sorry for the unpleasant experience.” This situation requires actual accountability and meaningful corrective action, not a generic template response.

Decided to take my wife and 3 young children out to applebees to celebrate our anniversary. When we walked in there was no wait, but only about a third of the seating was open. No problem, we were quickly seated in a booth and recieved our drinks shortly after. We ordered off the 2 for 25 menu, picked an appetizer, and ordered 3 kids meals for the kids. Nothing crazy, just a normal order for a family of 5. After 15 minutes or so we received the boneless wings appetizer, and then proceeded to watch everyone leave the bar and new patrons filter in. Well the kids do what kids do and start asking where the food is, so I check my watch and it has been over an hour since we sat down. Every booth around us has been fed, the people left, new patrons are seated and their food is on the table, and we haven’t even been asked if we would like a refill.
Thats the moment we decided to leave. As we stand up gathering the kids and their toys, not our server conveniently brings out a portion of our food. Too little, too late. There’s a reason only a third of the seating is open. Its because they dont have the customer base they use to, to fill the place.
I had to remove my previous 5 star review from a few years ago, to put an honest modern review.

From the moment we walked in, the kindness and attentiveness of the staff were truly exceptional. Every single person we interacted with was warm, patient, and genuinely caring, which immediately made us feel welcomed and valued—not rushed or overlooked like you sometimes feel in other places.

What really set this experience apart, though, was the manager. They took the time to personally come over and speak with us, not out of obligation, but with sincere interest and care. That level of hands-on leadership is rare and speaks volumes about the culture they’ve created here. The manager listened, checked in on our experience, and made sure everything was absolutely perfect, which made us feel incredibly appreciated as guests.

It’s clear that this team takes pride in what they do and truly cares about the people they serve. Exceptional service like this doesn’t happen by accident—it comes from great leadership and a staff that genuinely enjoys making others feel comfortable and taken care of. This was an outstanding experience, and we will absolutely be returning and recommending this place to everyone we know. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Applebees has always been one of my favorite places to eat until recently, yesterday I ordered my favorites barbecue ribs. It was like eating dried up jerky with overdone dried up sauce. The bones were burned black. A month before that I was in town and tried chicken Alfredo my gosh I asked for extra sauce I could lift up my noodles all in one forkful I think they were left over from the day before. Extra sauce was $2 extra so disappointing.

Stopped in for lunch. I believe the bartender was Kacey… Anyways, she was awesome. Super friendly and personable. Food was spot on! Buffalo wings and the grilled cheese cheeseburger was perfect. Im a big fan of Applebee’s and this one in Rapid City is great! Lunch time was a little busy, but still easy to talk. Great experience!

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received. At first it was okay until the food came out and my steak was grey and over cooked on the outside and the inside cold and raw, I asked for a medium rare. I politely asked for a new steak the manager came out to confirm and says “I’ll add something onto the check to fix the mistake”. One would assume a coupon or something but she tried charging me $11 extra for a steak they took back that I did not eat. The waitress ended up taking the charge off before giving me the check after we waited 20 minutes for it. After food was brought out we were only checked on twice and waited forever for them to make sure everything was right and for drinks to be filled.

Stopped in while passing thru for a hot meal. What i ordered was cooked to perfection my steak was sizzlin and cooked medium rare, the broccoli was not overcooked and my homemade mashed potatoes were seasoned perfectly and my apple desert pie was over the top!!!!. Not being from this community, I felt welcome and comfortable. Highly recommend!!

My husband and I went there end of October for our anniversary. Should have known that something was when the sign wasn’t lit. No wait for the table. Long wait for our order to be taken. After another 30 min. wait we got our entree. Had to ask two waiters and the young boy who seated us to get utensils. The appetizer came ten minutes after our entrees. Overall a bad enough experience for me to stay away from this restaurant for a long time.

I was there for veterans day. Chose the 6 Oz sirloin for my free meal. Mashed potatoes were good. I think I got a total of six green beans and the steak was absolutely horrible. So a tough couldn’t even cut it! fatty!
I should have told the waitress to take it back and get me something different, but I didn’t sense it was free. Won’t be going there again for my veterans day meal. Total disappointment!
Waitress was the only thing good!

The single worst impossible burger I’ve ever had. Utterly bland, dry and overcooked, no sauce at all , one small tomato slice, pickles despite specifying not to include them, and a the butt’s end of lettuce. All that for more than $15.

Do not eat here. Dirt would be a better option.
