It honestly pains me to write this because I’ve really loved Penny’s over the past six months.

My husband and I started coming here in May 2025 because it was advertised as dog friendly and had great craft beer, something we both love and even brew ourselves. On our first visit, we learned about the late Penny, the dog the farm was built in memory of. The staff were kind, told us our dog was welcome to visit anytime, and we’ve been regulars ever since, usually stopping by once a week.

Tonight, I arrived a few minutes before my husband and took our dog to the garden like we always do to pay our respects to Penny. After less than two minutes, a woman suddenly screamed at me to “get out immediately.” I was shocked, since I’d never seen her before and thought she might be yelling at the nearby kids playing football. But it turned out she was yelling at me. I left right away and said, “I’m so sorry, I thought we were allowed in here. I’ve never been told otherwise.” She shouted, “I’m the owner. Get your dog out of there.”

I said, “Ma’am, I’m complying, but your staff have always told me this was fine. You may want to clear that up with them.” She replied, “I’ll have a talk with them.”

I was really shaken up and waited for my husband to arrive. When we went inside, the owner asked to speak with me and said, “The only thing I’ll apologize for is that the ‘no dogs allowed’ sign fell off. The woman I was with told me you sounded absolutely crazy and combative.” My husband started recording because of how unprofessional she was being. I explained, “I think trying to talk across a field can make anyone sound upset. I just wanted to clarify that I’ve always been told dogs were allowed.” She said again, “Well, you sounded absolutely crazy.”

I ended the conversation by saying, “We must have different communication styles. I’m going inside to enjoy the place I came to support tonight.”

Once inside, several other customers came up to me, telling me they’d had similar experiences with the owner’s rude and combative behavior.

To be clear, I completely understand if the owner doesn’t want dogs in certain areas. That’s her right. The issue is how this was handled.
• The owner was unnecessarily aggressive and unprofessional.
• There’s no clear signage about where dogs are allowed.
• The staff clearly haven’t been trained consistently on this policy.

Every other staff member I’ve met here has been wonderful, which makes this even more disappointing. I hope the owner takes this feedback seriously, because no customer deserves to be yelled at for following the same directions they’ve been given for months.

Penny’s Beer Garden is an awesome local beer garden. Big backyard and plenty of space inside too. Beer is cold and the tacos al pastor from the food truck smelled amazing!

Been going to Penny’s ever since they opened and I love the relaxed atmosphere and the support they have for locally produced beers and wines. The taproom is cozy but my favorite place to hang out at Penny’s is in the outside seating area, especially in the evenings when the string lights are lit and it’s cool outside. Also a fun place for trivia nights 🙂

Peeny’s Beer Garden is exactly that! It’s a beautiful and cute location with patio furniture outside to gather around socially to have a good time. Every Thursday they have trivia and every second Saturday they have a farmer’s market and much much more. Anyone should come and check this place out! They have a garden with fresh veggies and herbs with chickens and soon to be… bunnies! This place is great for kids and adults! Bring your pets, they’re pet friendly! I would recommend Penny’s Beer Garden to my closest friends and family.

Great place to come have a local brew, sit outside, and relax. I noticed it’s family and pet friendly, has a okra maze (at the moment, I imagine its seasonal) and a farmers market outside. As a father to be, I’m excited to have a place like this to come hang out at. Definitely recommending this great spot.
