A fantastic experience from start to finish at this classic Lisbon restaurant. The staff are professional, friendly, and attentive — everything runs smoothly without feeling rushed. The food is excellent, full of authentic Portuguese flavours and beautifully presented.

If you’re not familiar with Portuguese wines, ask for Pedro, the sommelier — he’s outstanding and will help you find the perfect match for your meal.

And don’t leave without trying the crêpes flambées — the tableside preparation is a real show and the perfect way to end a memorable evening.

Gambrinus is a true Lisbon gem — timeless, elegant, and absolutely worth a visit.

Restaurante Gambrinus is a true Lisbon classic and an absolute pleasure to visit. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere feels timeless—elegant, warm, and full of history. The seafood is exceptional, impeccably fresh and prepared with great respect for tradition. Every dish reflects quality and consistency, from the perfectly cooked fish to the excellent desserts. The service is professional, attentive, and discreet, making the whole experience feel special without being rushed. Gambrinus is not just a meal, but a celebration of Portuguese cuisine at its finest. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates classic dining in Lisbon.

We came here for an early dinner. Prices were moderate (same as London) except we got refills of our mains. We both got the specials and they were delicious. My potatoes were quite bland but the fish was good.
They gave a booster seat for our baby, not sure if she was any younger if they could accommodate. Interior was very traditional but cosy. Staff were attentive and friendly.
Only other con is that they charge €5 for bread at the beginning which they don’t disclose (I feel like if you’re placing something on the table that no one orders it should be free?) and the bread wasn’t particularly amazing – very plain brown bread and butter?
Nevertheless- mains that we got were good and two beers came to €106.

An authentic taste of old Lisbon at the bar.

We didn’t have time for a full meal, but we couldn’t resist popping into the legendary Gambrinus. We stood at the magnificent, old-world bar and ordered two simple things: a croquete and an oyster.

The oyster was shucked perfectly right at the bar – briny, fresh, and clean. The croquete was a masterpiece of the genre: fantastically crispy on the outside with a smooth, flavorful filling that was clearly homemade.

It was the perfect way to experience a slice of this iconic restaurant’s charm without a full sit-down meal. The barman was efficient and classic, the atmosphere was buzzing, and it felt like stepping back in time. Highly recommend this bar-side experience for a quick, high-quality bite.

Dining at Gambrinus in Lisbon was an unforgettable experience. The service is truly first-class — the waiters are warm, attentive, and move with such precision and coordination that it feels like a well-choreographed performance, always focused on every detail for the guest. The food was incredible, every dish absolutely delicious, and the restaurant itself is stunning. Without a doubt, a unique experience not to be missed when in Lisbon.

The restaurant gave me an old schooled vibe… I love how attentive they were in service. I personally loved the local prawns steamed and salted. Percebes was done well!! This dish could have been the juiciest goose neck barnacles I have ever eaten!!!! The seafood stew was of course the highlight of the meal, and oh, the portion of rice was fluffy and cooked to perfection!!
