I tried the Regular Samoa Cookie Latte, which has coconut syrup, espresso, oat milk, and a chocolate and caramel drizzle, for $5.50. I didn’t taste the coconut at all, but the chocolate and caramel drizzle was yummy, and the espresso was smooth.
The person who took my order was friendly.
Operated under the same ownership as Pho Hoa, Reign drink lab offers a glimpse into modern Vietnamese beverage culture. Dressed in a trendy façade, it promises Instagram-worthy sips with its vibrant concoctions. However, beneath the allure, it didn’t quite deliver the authentic Vietnamese coffee experience I was hoping for.
During my past few visits, I tried several of their coffee and tea drinks, but most of them were a bit disappointing. The presentations were excellent, but their taste profiles missed the mark. I have a sweet spot for Vietnamese coffee, usually marked by its delightful dance between the bitter coffee and creamy condensed milk. Here, however, the scales tipped heavily towards saccharine.
The Purple Reign tea was a visual treat with its stunning color, but it was overwhelmingly tart. It felt as though I was sipping straight lime juice, masking the subtler notes of butterfly peaflower and passion fruit.
Overall, Reign Drink Lab may be good for people looking for a photogenic spot. However, I probably wouldn’t come back for their drinks.
Update: went back again and had the Pom power drink and it was great!
I got the new Ube Latte, which was amazing. I also recommend getting their dark&stormy or regular Vietnamese coffee. Those are usually my favorites so far and give you a nice caffeine boost as well.
