I have been to this restaurant 7 or 8 times. They advertise that they have a great weekend happy hour and they did for a few months, but all of that has ended while they continue to promote their weekend happy hour. The last 4 or 5 times I have been there thay have been “out” of their free wings while still promoting the free wings on their marquee sign. Today was the first time that they didn’t have their been dip, chips, or salsa available. This restaurant is a scam in motion. The service has always been really bad, but this is a new low.

I ordered for DoorDash delivery. What I received looked nothing like the menu picture. The steak was bland/tasteless & where are the enchiladas on the plate shown in the pic? The chile was bland. The side salad was very nice at least, & the corn was good.
I have eaten in there many times over the years, but I won’t be ordering for delivery again. Huge disappointment!

A True Gem of New Mexican Comfort: Papa Felipe’s Delivers Nostalgic Bliss!

If you’re craving authentic New Mexican cuisine that wraps you in warmth like a cozy adobe hug, look no further than Papa Felipe’s in Albuquerque. This iconic spot has been a staple since 1977, blending fresh ingredients with bold flavors that scream Southwest soul. From the moment we walked in, the inviting atmosphere—complete with that classic, unpretentious diner vibe—set the stage for an unforgettable meal.

We kicked things off with their complimentary chips and salsa, a rare treat in today’s world where most places nickel-and-dime you for every extra. These weren’t just any chips; they were perfectly crisp, warm, and paired with a vibrant, house-made salsa bursting with fresh tomatoes, onions, and just the right kick of green chiles. It was the kind of starter that transports you back to simpler times, and we couldn’t get enough!

For the main event, I dove into their legendary enchilladas with seaaoned beef—tender, slow-cooked beef nfused with rich red chile, wrapped in a fluffy tortilla, then blanketed in melted cheese and more of that addictive sauce. Topped with a sunny-side-up egg, it was pure indulgence, the yolks mingling with the spicy gravy for a breakfast-for-dinner dream. On the side, crispy home fries with caramelized onions added that perfect crunch, while a dollop of cool sour cream and a fresh salad with diced tomatoes cut through the heat beautifully. My companion went for a classic beef burrito, smothered in green chile sauce and cheese, served alongside creamy refried beans and more of those golden potatoes—every bite was hearty, flavorful, and utterly satisfying.

And just when we thought it couldn’t get better, they surprised us with free sopapillas at the end! Light, pillowy, and dusted with cinnamon sugar, drizzled with honey—they were the sweet finale that sealed the deal. The food here isn’t just delicious; it’s made with heart, using time-honored recipes that highlight New Mexico’s famous chiles without overwhelming the palate.

Service was friendly and efficient, prices are wallet-friendly (especially those lunch specials on the menu), and the portions? Generous enough to leave you plotting your next visit. Papa Felipe’s isn’t flashy—it’s real, reliable, and reminds you why local legends endure. Five stars all the way; Albuquerque wouldn’t be the same without it! If you’re in town, do yourself a favor and stop by—you’ll leave full, happy, and already reminiscing.

Ummm Ok
We came here for a special occasion.we got sat pretty quick it took our server 8 mins just to come get our drink order and then another 5 to get our food order and we atleast waited for 10 to 15mins on our food so we had the chips and salsa while waiting but yet we find a hair in our chips and told the server she looked at us like oh ok like she’s used to getting stuff sent back cause of that but then we get our and find another hair in side another plate that was so gross she came and got it and made another plate for the guest that’s was good of them but yet we get our check and still wanted to charged us for having hair in our food but the good outcome was that they fixed that problem. The service there was not so friendly she hardly ever came to our table plus she tossed our check at us never once saw the manager on our issues only seeing her in my opinion the tip should have been .25 cents or a 1 cause that place and server was awful. But outside of there my stomach was hurting so bad after I ate the food. I was starting to cry cause of how bad my stomach was hurting but then it all came back up that was not very pleasant at all cause the food was absolutely horrible I will never be eating here again. Plus will never recommend this place to anyone.

Honestly the food was delicious. I got take out and despite being packed they got it out to me within 30 minutes. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I asked for chicken tacos and ended up with beef. That’s totally okay with me though it might throw someone else off. They were delicious and not ridiculously salty like I’ve had from some places.

We called ahead to be sure they could take us as it was already 7:30. He said they were going to close at 8 because they were slow. They stayed open for us and we headed in. We were seated and given menus.
Our server was a champ. We had 9 adults and 3 young kids. We split the check 3 ways. The guy , our server, was gracious enough to split it without hesitation. There’s a 20% split check gratuity. Understandably so. I told my family to treat him nice (tip) because we put him through the wringer with our split checks and all our needs.
The food was quality but it’s what I’d call typical American Mexican food. Not too special for being in the southwest.

There’s too many plates for me to name off here. I’ll try to add names to the pics that I upload. The family enjoyed it I think for the most part. The food took a bit to come out to our table. I assume it was because of the quantity we ordered.
For me, I ordered my usual chimichanga with Ground beef. Rice and beans. I asked for it to be fried extra crisp. It came out just as I asked. I wanted green hot sauce like Green pepper chalulla but they only had house made green Chile sauce.
All in all it was ok.

We stopped by today for the 1st time. Our waitress Lutecisla was a true professional and an asset to this establishment. We ordered the beef flautas and Red Cheese Enchiladas. Had a Delicious Margarita and 2 Bud Lights.

The silverware was dirty. Not just mine, but every set at the long table we were at for a party. Food was adequate. Some items in the same, order came out at different times. I knew it can be more difficult with larger groups but waiting 20 minutes for a drink refill was a bit much. I finally tracked down the server to give a lite reminder.

The restaurant was completely alone, and we needed to wait more than 30 minutes for a simple quesadillas. The rice and beans were the sides and not like too much the flavor, so my daughterdont eat it. The attention for the waitress was pretty good. She apologized for the inconvenience, but we never received a discount for that, and we need to stand up to look for her. I don’t like it when you are in a New Mexican restaurant and put Mexican music when you dont sell any real Mexican food is illogical.
