If you’re looking for authentic, flavorful Tex-Mex, El Aguilla is the place to be. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, but the food really stole the show. Everything was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and served piping hot.
A massive shoutout to our waiter, Luz She was absolutely fantastic—attentive, friendly, and had the best recommendations. It’s rare to find service that is both professional and genuinely warm, but Luz nailed it. She made an already great meal even better.

Unfortunately, my experience matched many of the negative reviews about El Aguila’s service and pricing. We came on a Saturday night with a large group (20–30 people) for drinks and dancing. Despite the size of our party, we received only three baskets of chips and salsa, and even after asking several times, we never got refills or even tap water, since they only offer bottled still or sparkling. Drinks and margaritas had no prices listed, so the final bill was a surprise.
Food portions were big and nicely plated, but the flavors were only average Tex-Mex. My Lomo Saltado was supposed to be medium rare but arrived completely overcooked and dry. To make things worse, our waitress dropped a heavy plate behind my friend, splattering all over her shirt and leather purse. The restaurant didn’t offer anything until we repeatedly pushed, and even then, she only received a $25 gift card – not enough to make up for the damage or the hassle.
Between the poor service, lack of transparency, and how they handled the spill incident, this visit was disappointing. I wouldn’t return or recommend it!

I’m obsessed with this food! Omar and Soani were very kind and attentive. This was my first time trying ceviche and I’m blown away. The serving size for the price can’t be beat. I’ll definitely be coming back 🙂

This Salvadoran + Tex mex restaurant is really great! Amazing staff, good drinks, better food.
Service here is spectacular. I was helped by Samir and Genesis this time. They were happy to help and answer any questions we had.
The sizzling fajitas were delicious and great portion wise. Also chicken quesadillas were scrumptious. Everything we had was freshly made and tasted amazing. If you’re in the area, def give this place a chance.

I had an incredible experience at Aguila in DC, thanks largely to Adrian. From the moment I sat down, he was genuinely attentive, professional, and went out of his way to make sure every single need was met. Nothing felt rushed, and his recommendations were spot-on.

This may be one of the greatest hidden gems in Silver Spring! The food is amazingly authentic and delicious. The ceviche is crazy good as an FYI. But the food and drinks are super reasonably priced as well. They have a great happy hour if you’re in the market for that. Ask for Wendy she is the best server! There is a free dedicated parking lot as a super bonus:) also the large margaritas are seriously large (see photo)
