Social Profile:

Steak ‘n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes. For over 85 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word steak stood for steakburger. The term shake stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. Today, Steak ‘n Shake remains the better burger leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steakburgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order.

Chain known for steakburgers & milkshakes offering a dinerlike space with retro flair.

I stopped by Steak ’n Shake in Clarksville, Tennessee and had one of the best service experiences I’ve had in a long time thanks to a young employee named Lucas.

From the moment we walked in, Lucas was attentive, respectful, and genuinely seemed to care about making sure everything was right. He was moving quickly, helping customers, keeping things organized, and maintaining a positive attitude the entire time. It was clear he takes pride in his work and in representing the restaurant well.

What really stood out to me is that Lucas already demonstrates the qualities of a strong leader. He communicates well, stays calm under pressure, and clearly understands that great service is what keeps customers coming back. Employees like this are rare and incredibly valuable.

If he isn’t already being considered for a shift leader position, he absolutely should be. Promoting people like Lucas is exactly how businesses build strong teams and loyal customers.

Please recognize him for the excellent job he’s doing — he made our visit memorable and is a great example of the kind of employee that helps a restaurant grow and succeed.

Thank you, Lucas. Your hard work does not go unnoticed.

The counter is strictly a computer you have to put your order in. Then they ask you to tip? For what?? The milkshakes were good and food was good. A bit greasy. Greasy is good but noe then the buns soaked. But I can’t complain it was hot and fresh I enjoyed it a lot. We will come back for sure while we are here. 🙂

The food was fine it was the Steak and Shake Burger and Fries that I remember. The issue is they do not have servers and they expect you to figure out a kiosk on your own to order your own food then they have the audacity to ask for a tip. Who am I tipping? No one even greeted me as I came in the door. I won’t be back to any of these resturants if this is what the rebranding was. The loss of the human touch and classic americana of the old diner was a terrible decision.

Love the tallow fries. Love that they have the calories for all their items. Love getting a small shake.

Just went in for shakes. Took 10 minutes to receive order. Shakes were good. No one really greeted you. You order from a kiosk. You don’t really feel like a welcomed customer just another dollar. Shake was alright.

This was my first time at a Steak ‘n Shake. Shoestring fries were abundant and properly salted. Burger was nothing special but not bad. It took a bit for my order but I did watch them make it fresh. Staff was courteous and helpful.

Thicker young caucasian boy working drive thru on 3/3/26 around 5:30pm was horrible with service. He handed our food to the customer in front of us, then had to take it back, handed me the card without looking and my food without looking, forgot our drinks and wouldn’t look out so I had to blow the horn, remind him of our drinks then he gave wrong sizes and had to remake. Horrible experience and poor customer service. He represents your company in an awful way!

Over the last several years, the service in this restaurant has become basically non existent. I’m sure that the employees are doing a good job in their respective duties, but this place could have been completely automated and I wouldn’t have noticed a difference in service. The food quality has gone up in the last two years compared to immediately after Covid. But it felt like the employees were trying to not interact with customers.

This is one of my top 3 steak n shakes with my number 1 being in pensacola fl. The food is delicious, atmosphere is awesome, service good but not great. I think the owner or manager is running this place pretty well. This would be a 4.4/5 for me.

As a new customer to Steak ‘n Shake I am not satisfied by the customer service. We asked if it was everything and the lady in the window said I think its everything. That was the first issue so we weren’t confident in them for making sure we had all our food. We checked and didn’t see our fourth fry and we realized we never got our shake so we came around and we were very polite, they asked what we were missing (mind you our shake was sitting on the counter right in front of the gentleman) we said we are missing a shake and a fry. A lady chimed in from the back saying we got all our food and that we are not missing anything (with an attitude). We said we didn’t get the fries for the tenders (not realizing if you get a 2 piece tender kids meal, the fries are in the box because this was our first time going here) and she chimed back in with an attitude again that the fries are in the box and we aren’t missing the fries. We said oh ok, we didnt know that. They gave us the shake and left, at that point we got mad and the excitement about trying this place had went away and are very dissatisfied.
