Recently visited, the pub is decorated nicely for Christmas and was super clean. We started with French Onion soup and it was fantastic. The drinks were fun with Holiday themed choices. The food came out quickly but the main courses lacked overall flavor. Service was great regardless.

We went at lunch time and the atmosphere was less than celtic. The music was too loud and not celtic at all. The food was still great!

Came here for a couple beers last week and stayed for a lovely chat with pete the bartender, who had time for some nice conversation. Drinks were reasonably priced, and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Would definitely go here again for a drink or two! Would recommend 9/10

We were seated right away, but waited almost an hour for our food when it was not particularly crowded. The food was about 50/50. I would have enjoyed the meal if the bill hadn’t been so high, but most of the food was not worth the price and the portions were small. Steer clear of the apple crumble. All I could taste was the over-powering cinnamon and it was room temperature, which was disappointing considering the beautiful presentation. It’s definitely not the worst place I’ve been, but be ready to burn through some cash for some average quality food. The view of the city from the roof was beautiful though.

Burger was greasy, chicken on the chicken ceaser salad was gross. Fries were good. Food came super fast, like, almost too fast… But that was the only thing fast. If you need a waiter, too bad… Would not go again. Would have been better off at Applebee’s. Would have had better food, would have been cheaper, and probably better service. Really let down.

A great 4-floor Irish pub with great food. We had the pot pie and beef stew. Would definitely get both dishes again. For a place adjacent to Times Square, it didn’t seem too touristy!

Dinner before Harry Potter and cursed child. Had the ceasar salad and fish and chips. Fish was flaky and tasted delicious. Nice atmosphere. Service was great.

Today after a show we decided to stop get lunch. 11:45. We were seated next to another couple. Took a look at menu. By 12 no one acknowledge us. 4 other tabes were seated and drink orders taken! The 2 waiters didn’t even ask us. We got up & walked out. Still no one cared! So if you want crappy service I’d go here! Got a half assed apology oh sorry. No one said anything not even the manager. Nice service…Not So Much!

After seeing “Moulin Rouge” with my Mom on a super special 80th birthday train trip on the Amtrak Crescent route (from New Orleans to New York via DC and back via Atlanta), we wanted to have a sip and gush about the show before we walked back to our hotel in Midtown East. Playwright Celtic Pub was the best thing you could hope for in a looks-good-to-me buzzed decision. It was so warm and inviting; our bartender was amazing – she read the vibe and made us feel welcome; the Sunday night football game was on, which was awesome, but we were having such a good time together that I can’t even remember who was playing. We weren’t hungry – it was fairly late -so I can’t speak to the food, but the pub grub that others at the bar received looked delicious. Basically, Playwright Celtic Pub was the cherry on top of the sundae to finish the 2nd-best night of my life. The Gold goes to the night the Saints won the Super Bowl. I highly recommend this spot.
