Today, I had the pleasure of dining at La Patrona for lunch, and let me tell you, it’s a hidden gem nestled inside Eastland Mall.
As one of the few authentic-looking Mexican eateries in Bloomington, it was a bit tricky to locate, but the search was well worth it.
I opted for 2 pork and steak gorditas, 2 steak tacos, and a mango Jarrito. The gorditas exceeded my expectations–they were generously sized, with a satisfyingly crunchy shell and a hearty filling. The addition of hot sauce on the side elevated the flavors even more. The tacos were equally impressive; bursting with flavor, and the steak was wonderfully seasoned.
What truly stood out, though, was the staff. Their cheery demeanor and warm hospitality made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Their genuine friendliness added an extra layer of charm to the restaurant.
Overall, my experience at La Patrona was fantastic. If you’re craving authentic Mexican cuisine in Bloomington, look no further than La Patrona.

This place has the best Mexican food in town! After eating here it’s hard to go anywhere else. The steak tacos and chicken nachos are what we usually have and it’s always so good.

One the best Pastor tacos I’ve tried. I wasn’t impressed with their rice or beans since they were bland and they charge 3 dollars per side but their tacos were excellent.
They don’t have a phone so you can’t call for directions or to place orders ahead They should take down the “take out” option because in order to offer “take out” you need a phone number or website for customers to place orders. I had to walk around a closed mall to get to the food court when they could have easily add “How to find us” instructions on their menu and drive more sales to their business by adding a phone number and a working actual website to their business.
They are located in the Food Court of Eastland Mall in Bloomington IL. Don’t make the same mistake I made by entering on the stores side instead of the food court side but since they have no way to communicate with customers other than Facebook and some of us don’t use Facebook they made it really hard for me to find them. I do recommend their tacos, giving them low ratings for lack of ways to communicate with customers.

Absolutely delicious!!! Located inside Eastland Mall. I can see why this is one of the very last few establishments left in the mall, it’s that good, and people who have no interest in shopping still come to the mall for this restaurant. AMAZING. The Tacos were delicious! Try the Birria!!

I had the super taco! The hot green sauce was amazing. They also added cucumbers to my steak tacos which gave a very nice fresh taste to the tacos. These were absolutely delicious! Fast service and very friendly staff.

We heard lots of good buzz about this food truck and finally got to check it out for ourselves. Have to agree they have some of the best tacos in town – tried the Chorizo, Steak and Al Pastor. They are flavorful and generous with the meat. Chorizo was good, not especially spicy. The grilled pineapple with the Al Pastor was a good compliment to the cilantro and onion. The steak had a lot of flavor from the grilling. My wife ordered the Hurrache, and it was gigantic compared to what we were expecting. Will be back!

I remember hearing how good their tacos are from ppl at this point they were a taco truck that you would just have to catch. I just so happen to get a hold of some tacos once when they happened to be parked in a lot by AutoZone and the taste of these tacos stay with you. They are now located in Eastland Mall which is a bit of a trip for me but I was so happy to visit and grab tacos when I was out that way. They open up I wanna say at 11 on the weekdays I went on a Friday afternoon and it looks like I wasn’t the only one looking for tacos that day as I got there early on accident but it was close to opening time and they were right on it. The cashier was super nice and food took no time at all and was def hot and ready when I received it. I paid about 10 or so for 2 well packed tacos and a can of soda. Perfect for lunch on the go while running errands. Should I be in the area again this would be a recurring stop for me for sure I love my tacos. Also to be noted it was nice that thought the mall is def a bit run down it comparison to its hay days it was nice to not eat in a crowded place but just enough ppl for it to not feel empty.

The chorizo tacos were my favorite part of this meal, but the el pastor tacos were also delish! I didn’t get a picture of my tres leches cake – but the strawberries on top were SUPER fresh and the entire dessert was high quality. With the combo they provided both a salsa and a salsa Verde, both of which were good. The rice here isn’t my favorite Mexican rice option in town – less tomato-y than Fiesta for example, more similar to El Porton, but the quality of the tacos makes up for it! Highly recommend! An easy take-out option – they automatically package everything to-go anyway, but there is plenty of seating if you crave a food court vibe

They have never disappointed me! The best nachos ever. The service is always great. I have been to all the Mexican restaurants and I always come back to here. They are just simply the best. I have been going to them for over 5 years when they had the food truck. And you always get more than what you pay for and great smiles. Deserts are great also especially my favorite strawberry 3 milks cake.
