The sushi rice was mush. The fried shrimp was also mush. So much of the food that was served was so bad we couldn’t eat it. We were the first customers to come in when they opened so we suspect we were served old food. The lunch menu is very limited for the price you pay. You can find better food at literally any other sushi place. I’m not sure if they’re under new management or just trying to save money but everything from the soy sauce to the tempura sauce- everything tasted watered down. The cheap pink soap in the bathroom was even watered down. We do not have high expectations for a chain restaurant like this but we’ve been here before many times and I just could not believe how bad everything got.

I came here for a work dinner, and I had the time of my life! The service was exceptional, the food was fresh, the atmosphere was everything, it was clean! All the food that I ate was delicious. I wish I got a picture, but obviously it was so good I couldn’t lol. I can’t wait to come back here again thank you so much, Masuda!

Atmosphere and service is very nice. They can get really busy though but the wait times we’ve experienced is ok. Food is not mind blowing for AYCE but it’s filling and tasty. Everything came quickly except for the grilled fish, that took a while. I’ve eaten here alone (photos from my solo dinner) and with my husband and both times, experience is good. Ordering is through your phone via QR code.

Also: Remember to ONLY order what you can finish or you’ll pay a fee. It says so on their website when you place an order and you’ll be told by the server in your first visit.

Witnessed a couple who ordered sooo much food and thought thet could just leave it. The manager explained to them that they charge $1 per uneaten food but he won’t count the pieces and charged them a flat $15 for the waste, which I think is reasonable given they were wasteful. They had the audacity to complain about the charges and I overheard them being unkind on their way out.

I’m including this account because I like the restaurant and I hate seeing food wasted especially when you can control the quantity you order. Lesson: Do not go to an All You Can Eat if you have a tiny appetite. You’re just wasting food, the servers’ time, effort and goodwill, and your own money.

Oh my goodness, the food, the atmosphere and the service was great.. I’m usually not a fan of certain items at sushi places such as their mushrooms wrapped in beef or garlic and beef. I’m also not a fan of bed skewers because they tend to be chewy and dry but I was surprisingly impressed at how tender everything was. I also was impressed at the size of the sushi. Most places pack on the rice and the rolls are massive but here it’s the perfect proportion and I really felt the food to be incredibly delicious and fresh. I ended my meal with a little mango yogurt and ginger milk. Absolutely perfect!! Victor and his staff were truly wonderful. They weren’t overly attentive but they made sure we had space to have privacy. This place was worth the drive from Hamilton. Thank you. I hope to be back again when I’m visiting with family or Kunal and Danielle

Tbh Matsuda used to be one of the best sushi AYCE in the GTA – today we went, two ppl with two pops and weekend price we paid $121. The sushi was MEDIOCRE at best. The sushi rice didnt seem fresh.. The black dragon roll hardly even had eel on top of the roll. The beef ribs and matsuda shrimp were still delicious as welll. Sashimi alright.. Fried rice mediocre – I couldnt even eat it I am being honest… The wings were like probably double fried or something – thick batter n gross. I havent been for a while – last I was here was October and food was amazing, as I remember it. Today was extremely mediocre – I wish I had gone to Sushi Legend instead which was our initial choice due to consistent food quality.. yet I chose to drive further to Matsuda, just to get a bigger bill and mediocre experience. Service/Staff were great however. However, for $121 i could have got better dinner elsewhere

My wife and I had dinner here for our 10th Wedding anniversary and had such a great experience. Victor was excellent to deal with. He acknowledged our presence and welcomed, suggesting a booth. He caught note of special day and helped completed our experience. Thank you Matsuda team!

I have been to many AYCE Sushi restaurants. Never had an issue with my allergies since I inform them of it.

Manager asked if anybody has any allergies. I told them that I have crustaceans allergies. Then he processed to ask me if cross contamination is OK. NO! Cross Contamination is NEVER OK! So instead of keeping your kitchen clean and staff informed. He asks a ridiculous question. Because that way, they wouldn’t get sued if I were to get an allergic reaction for their poor quality and lack of cleanliness.

I came here to celebrate my birthday. Food was excellent. Service was quick. You get 2 hr dining limit. Price is cheaper during the week Monday to Thursday $40.99 per adult.

We ordered alot and enjoyed all the food. They recently renovated the restaurant and now have some new menu item. Spicy salmon tacos were a hit. Kimchi hot pot soup was very good as well. Herbed salmon sashimi was also amazing.
Our favorite dishes were served like sirloin steak, salmon sashimi, baked mussels, sirloin rolls, Mango rose maki, and volcano roll.
We love coming here because it’s close to home and lots of parking. The Don Mills location has a tiny parking lot. Highly recommend getting a reservation if you’re larger group. The place was packed for Tuesday night.

Now open for Lunch again! This is THE best all-you-can-eat sushi joint in the city, both for the freshness of the fish and especially for the amazing selection of outstanding cooked food that accompanies the sushi offering.

This is the O.G. location of Matsuda, and my return is because covid has caused AYCE lunch to be a thing of the past at my former go-to Don Mills location, but it is back at the Middlefield & Steeles location!

Renovated, peaceful, and very cute, with attentive service and dynamite food, you really cant do better anywhere in the city. Lunchtime means a much better price, but no sashimi, and a smaller menu selection – it’s not cheap, but it features outstanding food and great value for your dollar.

Standouts are freshly-made nigiri and handrolls, great maki, plus the must-have delicious yakitori-type skewers in beef, chicken, and pork, great teriyaki chicken, neon-green seaweed salad, killer tempura, fantastic fried chicken wings with a hint of 5-spice, and the star of the show “golden shrimp” which are big, fresh, bouncy shrimp battered and tossed in a kewpie mayo and tobiko glaze that are out of this world.

To be honest, I would happily pay for this all-you-can-eat lunch if there was no sushi at all, and all I could eat was skewers, wings, and unlimited golden shrimp. Yes, they are that good.

Add to that the wide array of ramen and udon noodle bowls, torched salmon and surf clam nigiri, crab rangoon, enoki beef rolls, takoyaki, tonkatsu, gyoza, and grab a fun crispy sushi pizza or japanese hash brown, plus their cute little shot-glass desserts, especially the lychee ‘pudding’, mango ‘yogurt’, fried banana and green tea ice cream, just for fun.

If you can’t find a bunch of items that you love here, then you just don’t like great food. I’ve been coming since 2010, and the food is great, with an easy order-on-your-phone-system, in a really cute atmosphere that is calm and peaceful, not crowded and hustle bustle.

Give it a shot, you will thank me.
