A small family restaurant run by an older couple serving comfort Japanese food.

The owner told us business hasn’t been great lately; please support them! Portions are generous and the food is delicious

I recommend calling ahead of time to order, and picking up in person. Sometimes they don’t answer the phone in time, just try calling again

This place may appeal to some, but it is not authentic Japanese food. If you are specifically looking for traditional Japanese flavors, this is not the right spot.

The curry rice, which should be comforting and rich, was overly oily and very watery. It was honestly hard to enjoy. The oyakodon was also disappointing and did not resemble the dish I know and love.

Unfortunately, this experience did not meet my expectations.

A hidden gem. Really generous portions. The curry is so delicious – it’s a total comfort food for me.

They generally just do takeout – no dine-in. Sometimes when you call, they don’t pick up. But just be persistent!

I’m SO glad someone mentioned ‘mom & pop’ – this place reminded me of the local places I grew up going to in Hawaii… (& hard to find here)

The Bento boxes are so oishi!!! The salmon teriyaki serving was huge and cooked perfectly (both pieces)… We also got chicken katsu & chicken teriyaki – both were great. Veggies – cooked & a side salad… Great value for the portions.

Now someone mentioned the curry was ‘watery’ – that IS Japanese curry. I didn’t order it this time, but that’s on my list to try on our next visit.

This is the perfect comfort food place – simple, tasty, good value – all prepared and served by a very nice couple.

This place is seriously a hidden gem in the bay area. The food is consistently delicious, and the couple that own the place are just the nicest and most accommodating people! They are of Japanese decent and they know authentic food. My gosh, the beef is always so tender and delicious. My boyfriend and I both get it every time we visit. I hope this place gets the respect and recognition it deserves. If you stop by, make sure to try the beef, California rolls, and the chicken teriyaki.

We love this place! Customer service is lovely. Food is yummy. They don’t have the vegetarian bento box anymore but if you’re vegetarian they can make you a rice, tofu, veggies combo that is bland (as they warned me it would be) but tasted fantastic when I added wasabi, hot sauce, and soy sauce to it.

Excellent place to grab some comfort food. The interior is also incredibly homey — and the people who run the place are incredibly nice.

I got a tonkatsu cutlet — it was very juicy, with perfect breading. I’d love to come back to try their curry and omelette. This is definitely a neighborhood favorite.

As other comments have noted — parking is limited and it is cash-only.

Edit: I came back to try their curry. This is probably the best Japanese curry I have ever had. Simply amazing. This is now one of my favorite restaurants in the area.

Delicious Japanese food tucked away in a tiny plaza with very limited parking. Both the bento special and katsu curry came with a ton of rice. The bento was really filling but I’d try something else next time. Super nice lady working the front!

They have the best Japanese curry I’ve found in San Mateo county. Consistently simple but delicious. I’ve included photos of their current COVID-19 take-out menu.
