We had a very late dinner at Old Ship Saloon after a night tour out at Alcatraz, and we couldn’t have had a better experience. When we arrived, it was busy but not crowded, and even though the hour was late (9:30 pm), we were able to get amazing food. As the tavern filled up with people attending conferences or in the Business District, it felt loud but fun, and we weren’t rushed out of our table or denied excellent service. We can absolutely recommend the clam chowder, the fish and chips was phenomenal our visiting guest had the salmon and enjoyed every single bite while my husband had the nachos and was shocked at how enormous the portion was! Five stars – we will definitely come again!!

Great drinks for a small place. It was almost packed on a Sunday, while we waited for our restaurant reservation around the corner at Kokkari. There was only one bartender, but he was expeditious and we didn’t wait long for his attention (this is always most important to me at a bar). I had Maker’s Mark with lemon and honey (forget official name), it was very nice. And my partner had a Moscow mule – flavorful, right amount of ginger beer. Had a nice conversation with another couple at the bar. We would def pass through again.

One of the best Reuben sandwiches I’ve had! Delicious calamari, fantastic cocktails, and wonderful service (thanks, Pauli)! French fries were delicious & skirt steak was exceptional. Highly recommended!

Had lunch here today around 1pm; the service was fast and friendly, and the food (I had “The Burger” with bacon, and a side of fries) was fantastic. The burger patty was juicy and very flavorful, the bacon was thick, and the fries were hot and crispy. Total bill (including a draft beer) before tip was around $30; very reasonably priced for this level of quality in the city. Will definitely eat here again when I’m in the area, and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quick lunch and a beer.

Of all the places in SF, THIS is the place that actually redeems the entire city! I walked in, first time, these guys were EXTREMELY gracious, very friendly. They handed me a menu, let me take any seat in the place, and were VERY communicative with how they planned out the timing of the food, and when it was coming out. And even when it came out sooner than expected, that was not a problem. The atmosphere is pretty dark, but fitting! Hard to imagine this was an abandoned vessel named the Arkansas.

Been to other places in the city, and they either upcharged claiming inflation was a reason, even though we’re all facing it, or they pulled all sorts of tactics to get you to tip more. This place is honest with their prices, and genuine in their attitudes towards you. I had a rough couple days here, but being here for one meal made it all up! Thanks!

Good old Old Ship. Went most recently to an event. Place was packed with locals, which was great to see. Nightlife near downtown FiDi Is coming back and OSS is part of it.

Good beer and drink selection. Adept bartenders.

The atmosphere here is cozy and welcoming. Friendly bartenders, and really good food! I’ve eaten nachos 100s of times in my life. The chicken molé nachos at The Old Ship Saloon are the best I’ve ever had! Also, my husband uses a wheelchair and this place is very accessible (including the bathroom!). We’ll be back next time we’re in SF.

Old ship was very cool spot to hang with a group of 10+ service workers. It has a dive bar feel in an area 10 min from exploratorium.
