Went there early for lunch and it was pretty slow. I ordered the Monterey enchiladas and they didn’t disappoint. I noticed that they do not have any lunch specials, so it’s nice to know before hand. The food was delicious though and the atmosphere was pleasant.

Tried Esperanza’s Restaurant & Bakery and it’s a great “come hungry” kind of place. It feels very local and busy in a good way, with people grabbing meals and others stopping just for bakery items. The food is classic, filling Mexican comfort food—served hot, with portions that don’t feel skimpy. What really sold me was being able to walk out with pan dulce/ pastries after eating. Service is friendly, but when it’s packed you can feel the pace slow down a bit, so I wouldn’t come here in a rush.

Solid spot for both breakfast and lunch, this review is for former. I’ve tried most of the breakfast items which are all good but my go to are the menudo and chorizo with eggs. Get the potatoes ranchera style, do not skip the beans and add the ‘orher’ salsa which really enhances the whole plate with homemade corn tortillas. I’ve been going to the location since it.opened as it isore convenient than the north side.

They say pictures are worth a thousand words, right? My parents were given charred enchiladas with peas and carrots inside of them, charred beans, and stale rice. ‍♂️

REFUNDED. ➡️

We’ve ordered food for delivery but finally made it there, in person, today. Margaritas are yummy. Chips and salsa, thumbs up. We did ask for some lime to add to the salsa which kind of calmed down the heat but still great with or without. Service was great. Very busy but still got seated within 10 minutes. It was a Sunday early afternoon so we were there when church probably let out and was starting to get busy. Red sauce on the enchiladas is more like mole sauce. So if you’re looking for traditional red sauce, this is not it. If you’re looking for fancy decor, wrong place to be. But if you’re looking for great food and service, It’s the right place to be.

Cannot believe they have potato flautas here. My mom had those as a little girl and she was so happy. Don’t sleep on the takeout menu. This is our tamale spot.

I really like Esperanza’s! Every meal I’ve had from here throughout the past few years has been delicious, and the waiters take really good care of you. The service is very quick as well, and they are very helpful and generous with their portions and servings!! the food is so good and the atmosphere is very bright, light, and simple!! It’s very cute! 🙂

The only issue I’ve noticed with this place is that sometimes they try to charge you extra for things so make sure you check your receipt! For example, one time, I asked for a little bit of lettuce on my burrito and they charged me $3, billed as a “salad”. It’s not the end of the world and the place is worth it to just correct them, but definitely double check your receipt at the end of your meal.

The quality of the food seems to be a half-step below where it was ten years ago. Certain items are still very good, like the nachos, the beans, and the rice. The breakfast is also still very good. The famous margaritas haven’t lost their punch. Be careful to keep track of how many you have had.

Honestly this place has really gone downhill. We used to love coming here. The restaurant was very dirty (salsa all on the inside of our menus & we had to get a rag to get food residue and hair off of our table).

The waitstaff is not very friendly and takes quite a while to come check on you.

The prices are way to high with the average breakfast being $14+ and if you want to add shredded cheese that will cost you an extra $4.
