Our most recent trip to Rudy’s was a little bit of a letdown compared to our usual visits there.

I don’t go to Rudy’s expecting the brisket to be amazing like what you would find at Hutchins. But I at least expect it to be properly cooked. Unfortunately this location has a habit of overcooking the brisket, to the point where even moist brisket is as dry as a lean brisket is, which is even more disappointing considering you have to pay extra for the moist brisket.

The cream corn is great as always, and the baby back ribs were pretty flavorful, but were not fall off the bone tender by any stretch of the imagination.

The new to us item that we tried this trip was corn on the cob, and it was definitely a huge letdown. It had the texture of being boiled for five hours, so when you would take a bite, instead of that nice crisp crunchy texture that you expect from corn on the cob (the way it is when I make it at home) it was just a bunch of mush.

Frankly, this trip reminded me of why I don’t go to Rudy’s very often. You pay almost as much as you do for going to Hutchins, but the quality is nowhere even close to the same. Also, Hutchins gives you free banana pudding and for what we normally eat at Hutchins for free I had to pay nine dollars for it at Rudy’s.

I recently visited Rudy’s in Allen, and it exceeded every expectation. From the moment I walked in, the aroma of oak-smoked meat through the air had me hooked.
• Meat & Flavor — The brisket was perfectly smoked: tender, juicy, with just the right amount of char. I also tried their sausage and ribs, and each bite had a deep, smoky flavor that felt genuine—not over-smoked, not bland.
• Sides & Extras — The potato salad, creamed corn, and beans were excellent complements—well seasoned, fresh, and not overly heavy.
• Service & Atmosphere — The staff was friendly, helpful, and efficient. The ordering process was smooth, and they handled high volume well. The rustic, casual barbecue joint vibe was perfect—no pretension, just good food.
• Value — For what you get, the prices are very reasonable. You pay for quality and portion, and they deliver.
• Overall — This place belongs in my top BBQ rotation in the Dallas area. If you’re craving real Texas barbecue that doesn’t disappoint, Rudy’s Allen is a must-visit.

Rudy’s has ruined our Christmas dinner FOR THE SECOND TIME. The first year we ordered Rudy’s for our Christmas dinner, I got there to pick up our PRE ORDERED DINNER and was told they had “run out” of the jalapeno sausage – which was our main (and only) course. How do you run out of jalapeno sausage when I placed the order the week before?? Fast forward to this year, we thought we’d give them another chance for our Christmas (and Christmas Eve) dinner. We sat down and opened the containers and I asked my husband to pass the baked beans – and he passed me this: a disgusting container of creamed corn. No baked beans, which is our FAVORITE SIDE. I’m beyond furious. Rudy’s has twice now ruined our Christmas Eve and Christmas dinner. How hard is it to teach your employees how to read? And how to double check to make sure the order is right? Thanks for ruining our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinner. Again.

Rudy’s Country BBQ is an American classic BBQ diner. Highly recommend for visitors or any BBQ lovers. A truly country family diner experience with Texas BBQ culture and traditions. You have to come in and try it yourself. The food is very delicious and fresh. Condiments are good and signature Rudy’s BBQ sauces. Good price and decent amount of portion of food. Recommend order moist brisket with sausage, pull pork sandwich. Anything is good here. Good value good food. Can’t ask for more. Check out the review and pictures worth a thousand

Don’t think employees are trained enough on handling delivery orders. First ordered via Uber Eats. Seems like that order was stolen or given to the wrong person. So I then reordered with Doordash and they handed the Doordash order to the Uber Eats driver. At the end of the day Rudy’s also got impacted because they had to give out food 3 times for 2 orders but I also had to pay twice and ended up with more food than I needed (also took a long time to get the first order). This could’ve been prevented if they checked the orders when handing food over to the drivers.
Though not going to lie, food is great.

On a side note, Uber Eats Customer service is horrible. They had 30+ minutes to reconcile with Rudy’s but took forever to get connected with a live agent, and even when connected, they were rude and didn’t care since it showed that the food was delivered on their side despite seeing photos of the receipt showing it was for Doordash. I never asked nor wanted a refund. Since this started with issues on their (Uber Eats) order, I asked to reach out to Rudy’s and work it out so that I don’t end up with 2 times the food I needed and pay for both. They just abruptly discontinued the communication.

But again, Rudy’s could make improvements with be more thorough when handing delivery orders to drivers.

Can you get great BBQ at a gas station? Of course you can! One of my favorite places to eat in North Texas.

I’m writing this review in the hope that someone in management will actually pay attention.

My wife and I absolutely love the brisket at this place. When we dine in or order takeout, it’s always fresh and delicious. You can even see the food being prepared in the open kitchen, and everything looks great.

However, every single time we order the brisket through Uber Eats for delivery, the quality is completely different. It feels like we’re being given leftovers — mostly fat and scraps instead of a proper portion of brisket.

It’s disappointing, because the food is excellent when you’re there in person, but delivery orders seem to be treated very differently. I really hope management looks into this, because consistency matters just as much for delivery as it does for dine-in customers.

Great barbecue! The beef is always good. I don’t like it too fatty; I really appreciate that they have options for me to pick. Love their baked potatoes. They have the standards needed for the barbecue: bread, pickles and peppers. The sauce is good; there are options there as well. The sides are a bit confusing if you’re not paying attention. You have to get the salads from the refrigerator. They don’t give those to you when you pick up the order. They have butcher paper if you want for your “plate” and then paper towels. It’s a fun place. The staff is friendly and the food is good. I am really curious about the gas pumps out front. Guess I’ll have to check them out further next time.

The jalapeño cheddar sausages were outstanding! The cheddar cheese was fully melted without like burning lava, and the jalapeño had a kick in the aftertaste. The brisket moist was good. It was well cooked and the texture was great, but I felt it could be marinated more to have more flavor inside.
Massive self serve food and seating areas.

Loved their “moist brisket”. Pork Ribs were good too but their brisket is the star. Some of the juiciest and most tender I have ever had. I spent $20 for quarter pound of brisket, 2 ribs (almost half a pound) and side of corn on the cob. Good for a large group because they had plenty of seats and they also have a to-go window.
