With high-quality made-to-order burgers, a ‘come as you are’ environment and a strange reverence for Chuck Norris, there’s no place else quite like Twisted Root. Way back before ‘gourmet burgers’ was a thing, Chefs Jason Boso & Quincy Hart decided to build a restaurant around half-pound, fresh ground burgers with a menu that allowed customers to build their own burgers with a list of crazy and inventive toppings. The two met in culinary school, after jobs in stock brokerages and telephone line repair. After paying their dues working the line at The Four Seasons & Pappas Bros, Jason & Quincy finally opened Twisted Root Burger Co. in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Texas in 2006. Twisted Root appeared on the second season of Diners,…

The burgers at Twisted Root in Carrollton are always top notch—i have also visited the deep ellum location and Waco location —but Carrollton is my home base and i’m always super happy to see the staff and order good food and drinks from the bar. Tristan, Amber, Kelsey, and Maizy always go above and beyond to make me feel welcome and although i feel bad for not knowing the rest of the staffs name there’s always familiar faces around which is a good indicator of how well they treat their staff. Overall, consistent flavor, consistent service, and i just always feel welcome 🙂

I would say that you can pretty much get your burger any way you like. Pretty cool the way they have you come get your order. They give you a card with a name on it already. We were Gostbuster. Keanu Reeves. And Superman. Bathrooms have some pretty good jokes on the wall about Chuck Norris. I will say this. I got the All American Burger. My wife the same. My grandkids each got something different. Most my family was there. By the time I got done giving everyone hugs. My wife and granddaughters were done with their Burgers. Lol! I am a slower eater but they devoured their Burgers. Fries were pretty good and I had fried pickles. Just a tip for the advanced Fried pickle eaters. Twisted Root has a free PICKLE BAR!!!!! They have 6 varieties of all you can eat pickles. Soooóooo,….. If you plan on delving into the all you can eat challenge. Don’t get fried pickles. Get fries or onion rings or anything else. If you do get their really good fried pickles. They have regular ranch and spicy ranch. They give you spicy and you have to ask for regular. Eat the fried pickles and Burger first. Then do the pickle bar. Because I never thought I could eat to many pickles in my life. I did last night . The Burgers are great!!! Bacon is real and lots of it. In fact, I had to use and entire roll of paper towels to keep wiping my hands. Because I load anything and everything on my Burgers. Perhaps that’s why I am slower than everyone else!???
I can’t say enough about the service. They were awesome. Especially the young lady who took our order. Just nothing was out of the question when asked for. Sure we can do that. Atmosphere is very casual and hippy. Good music and you always wait for that next famous name to be called over the intercom. Darth Vader!!!

I had my entire made here from the wonderful staff. Daniel took my order today and just made me smile from ear to ear, he really is a great example of what it means to just be a good person. They always make me laugh when they call the names and the food is amazing. I love twisted root and this is the best location I’ve been to yet! I will continue to come back here and you should too!

Never tried this place until today and we’ll definitely be back! Burgers were delicious! We did ask for our fries crispy and that didn’t happen. But we threw them in the air fryer to crisp them up and that didn’t happen the trick! Chicken dipping sauce was ! Watermelon tea was very refreshing! If you’re in the area it’s a must try!

Burger was juicy but not sloppy, came out quick as well! I really enjoyed the order/pickup system they have of giving out character cards and waiting for the card to be called instead of a number. It feels more personal and friendly. Place was spacious as well and the music wasnt too loud. It was also VERY breezy inside and it was amazing to get out of the heat! This place rocks and I’ll totally be back!

Their burgers have more DIY choices and varieties. I like how they make you choose your own pickles, such as bread and butter, sweet and spicy, atomic, and dill.

Had a great time during the texfest, Amber greeted me as I came In and let me know she could take my order at the bar counter. I ended up sitting at the bar and was introduced to a few locals who also welcomed me, I felt like part of the crowd. Amber was quick with the drinks and the banter. I will Be back!

It’s a great place for a quick lunch. A variety of dishes and especially hamburgers. They give every order a celebrity name right announce when the food is ready for pick up at the window. I am not a fan of root beer, but they have a variety of self-service root beer that I hear it is very good.

Stopped in for lunch during a work trip. They have a pickle bar to help yourself to. (Bread and butter, dill, atomic, sweet and spicy, and ranch flavors). They also make their own sodas. My coworker said the cream soda was the best she’s ever had. The meat of the week was Camel. So I had a camel burger. Very similar to a bison burger. Really cool place and will definitely go again when in the area.
