Benihana Edison – Order Online
Reviews
The customer service was also really good.
I highly recommend the Behinana- Edison location.
My fiancé & I haven’t been to Benihanas in years…this was our 1st time at this location & after today I/we were extremely disappointed…the service was nice but what I wasn’t too happy with was the process…upon Sam’s arrival (chef) I noticed the cleaning process on the grill, which I was not the happiest with …old rags that’s aren’t event white anymore along with strands from wear & tear …the gal whom took our order was great …but didn’t specify the soups’ broth was beef (I do not eat red meat nor pork only poultry & seafood) so I gave it to my fiancé & waited on the salad…I specified as I gave her the order.
As the cooking process started the red meat was 1st and shrimp, after it was cooked I would think the grill would be cleaned due to the juices of the red meat still on the grill (nope not cleaned off) the chicken I ordered was thrown on there right after the red meat! I’m like: wait what? Usually it’s cooked on the side separately…Even at a Korean bbq they take off the iron plates & replace them! after all the food was served, the dirty rags made their debute once again, lemon used to clean & the rag along with the dirty water where the rags were laying & marinating (all I kept thinking is if this is a health code violation!?)
I only had the vegetable fried rice & zucchini …even the onions & mushrooms were in that mix of red meat juice! And this because it was paid for if I were there without my partner I would’ve left.
I’m disappointed overall & I know my fiancé wasn’t happy that I wasn’t happy…the Founder of Benihanas would have also been bothered by all the changes to his vision of restaurant(s) from that process to the flavors of the food….I will not return
When we first arrived, the service wasn’t what I expected. I expressed a small concern, and that’s when everything changed. Michelle, along with a gentleman who appeared to be a manager (I unfortunately didn’t catch his name), completely turned our evening around. Their professionalism, attentiveness, and warmth were unmatched. They made me feel valued and celebrated , something I’ll never forget. The food, by the way, was also excellent. I wish I remembered the chef’s name, because he did an outstanding job!
What truly set this visit apart was how Michelle handled a situation after we left. I realized I had left my sunglasses at the restaurant and called to check. The first person who answered seemed disinterested and didn’t allow me to finish explaining before dismissing me and hanging up. I was disappointed and decided to call back to speak with a manager ,and I was once again connected with Michelle.
True to form, Michelle didn’t hesitate. She kindly told me to give her a moment, checked herself, and found my sunglasses within minutes. That is what I call real customer service ,not just doing your job, but genuinely caring.
Michelle, Maria, and the kind gentleman who assisted during our dinner deserve all the praise. They turned a rocky start into a night to remember, and I’m so grateful to them for making my 10-year celebration so special. These are the type of individuals who should be running every hospitality team ,they lead with heart, attentiveness, and excellence.
Thank you, Benihana, for having them on your team!
When placing our order, I informed the waiter that it was my son’s birthday and asked if something special could be done to acknowledge it. Unfortunately, that did not happen. The hibachi chef appeared disengaged and grumpy throughout the meal, with no interaction, celebration, or effort to create a fun atmosphere. We have been to several hibachi restaurants before, and typically the chefs are lively, engaging, and make the experience memorable—especially for a birthday. That was not the case here.
We also ordered dessert, but it was never brought to the table. I had hoped it would come with a candle or some form of birthday acknowledgment, but nothing happened, which was disappointing for a teenager on his birthday.
That said, the food itself was excellent. The quality and taste were very good, and we truly enjoyed the meal from a culinary standpoint. However, hibachi dining is as much about the experience as it is about the food, and in that regard, this visit fell far short.
For the price paid, the overall customer experience was a big disappointment. I believe the restaurant needs to significantly improve its customer service and hibachi engagement. Sadly, we would not return here for a hibachi celebration
