Laid-back joint lures locals with its classic surf ‘n’ turf, casual vibe & kitschy decor.

Looks can be deceiving from the outside and upon entry. But once you’re seated the serving staff is wonderful. They work as a team and are very accommodating. Tim was our server and he made great meal suggestions. The crab, lobster tails and the prime rib were some of the best entrées I’ve had in some time. They make their own salad dressing, the Bleu cheese was outstanding. The cheesecake was rich and creamy. Even their ginger beer was delicious. I highly recommend!

From the outside, this place looked like a casual dive bar, so we expected a quick late lunch/early dinner. We arrived around 4pm and were told seating would begin at 4:30, with a table by the window set aside for us. When 4:30 came and the restaurant filled up, we were still waiting at the bar. After a long delay, we ordered an appetizer (which was good!) just to pass the time. Unfortunately, the bartender was noticeably unwelcoming toward us (ignoring us unless we called for him) while being very friendly to others, which was uncomfortable—especially as my dad is a person of color and everyone else at the bar wasn’t.
At 4:40 we checked in with the hostess, only to learn we were never put down for a table (even though she took my name down). While they corrected it, we were seated about 15 minutes later on the opposite side of the restaurant. By then, our appetite was mostly gone. I ordered the clam linguine, which arrived extremely overcooked and mushy—disappointing given the prices. Didn’t bother saying anything or complaining because we can give grace when a restaurant is nearly full on a Sunday evening. The only bright spot was the bussers and bread service, who were excellent. We spent over $100 on drinks alone and still felt poorly treated. If you have high standards, I wouldn’t recommend. Overall, not worth the visit, especially if you aren’t Caucasian.

If you want an unforgettable dining adventure on Coast Highway (Sunset Beach/Huntington Beach border), Captain Jack’s is the place! ⚓️
The food was out of this world — the filet mignon was melt-in-your-mouth perfection, and the lobster was fresh, buttery, and full of flavor. The portions are huge and the taste is unbeatable! I admit I overate because it was that good — especially the warm homemade bread .
The atmosphere is pure magic ✨ — I had dinner on the patio at sunset and it was breathtaking. Inside, the whole restaurant feels like you stepped onto a ship — with wooden walls, hidden exits, and a cool vibe that makes it feel like a secret passageway.
The service? Absolutely royal . Not just one server, but a whole team making sure you’re treated like a king or queen. At one point I had five different people checking in — it’s next-level hospitality.
And just when I thought I couldn’t eat another bite, out came the dessert platter — set right in front of you on a big tray with tempting choices. I couldn’t resist the chocolate & raspberry sorbet truffle, drizzled with rich raspberry sauce… oh my goodness, it was divine. A perfect ending to the feast!
I went for my birthday dinner, and it couldn’t have been more special. Yes, it’s on the pricier side ($100+ per person ), but the experience is worth every penny. Between the flavors, the sunset, the ship-like atmosphere, the dessert indulgence, and the VIP treatment, this isn’t just dinner — it’s an experience you’ll never forget.
✅ Highly recommend! Everyone should experience Captain Jack’s at least once in their lifetime.

This is a really cool place with an old school vibe and decore. The service was fantastic, they really take care of you. Ordered a second beer and it came so quick you would think the tap was under the table. Food was very good, I had the steak and crab legs which were both very tasty. I did take of one star for the price. I felt the cost a bit high for what you get. Nonetheless, it is definitely a neat place and I recommend giving it a try.

My boyfriend and I love this place. It’s so classic. Prime rib sandwich on garlic bread, no lettuce, side of avo. (Recommended by our first waiter) It’s HEAVENLY and it’s all we get now. The sandwich is ginormous so we usually split it for dinner. Sitting anywhere in the bar area is always fun.

I love the vibe! So much to take in. The staff was friendly and on top of it. We walked in off the street on a whim and they took great care of us. Make sure to show up hungry! I tried the Hawaiian Ahi and would recommend!

The crab legs here are hands down the freshest, biggest, and most delicious I’ve ever had in the U.S. The meat is tender and even has a subtle natural sweetness. As a true foodie, I can definitely tell how fresh they are. Absolutely worth trying!

We’ve dined here at least 25 times over the past few years. Captain Jack’s just never disappoints. From the moment you arrive you are treated like a celebrity. Ronnie the manager does an amazing job along with his staff to make your visit memorable. We come for the Alaskan King Crab legs! Absolutely spot on every time! We’ve celebrated birthdays, special occasions, and Christmas Eve here. If you want to impress someone like a date or perhaps a business dinner….trust me this is the place!

Came here with some friends. The service was excellent, and everyone we interacted with was attentive, friendly, and helpful. It was pretty packed on a Friday night around 8 pm, but we had a reservation, so no issues there. The menu offers a lot of choices, and I had a tough time deciding. I ordered the Ahi Steak and Shrimp Cocktail, which I enjoyed at the time, though it did leave me with a bit of a stomach ache later. Overall, it was a fun night out with friends, but a little too expensive for the quality of the food. Although my friend really enjoyed the oysters.
