I’ve been a Taco Tote customer for years and usually enjoy the tortillas and salsas, but my most recent experience raised serious concerns about food quality and handling.

My wife picked up sirloin tacos, which I’ve ordered many times before. The issue wasn’t preference or doneness — it was texture, smell, and inconsistency.

On the second taco, after a couple of bites, I noticed an abnormally pasty, mushy texture that was completely different from normal sirloin fat or connective tissue. I opened the taco and found a piece of meat that was pink, glossy, and soft, and once exposed, it had a strong, foul odor. The smell was immediately off-putting and not something associated with fresh or properly handled beef.

I stopped eating and checked the remaining tacos. One appeared fine, but the third taco also contained a similar piece with the same texture and odor. Not all of the meat was affected, which points to inconsistent cooking or temperature control, not simply “rare steak.”

For clarity: I understand beef fat, connective tissue, and medium-rare steak. This was none of those. Fresh beef — even undercooked — should not smell foul or have a pasty, breakdown-like texture.

Out of concern for food safety, I threw the tacos away.

Over time, quality and portion consistency here has become hit or miss, and for the price, experiences like this shouldn’t happen. Serving meat that appears improperly cooked or compromised is a serious issue.

Photos are included so others can judge for themselves. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and reviews food handling and quality control procedures.

I have been going here for years almost weekly but today I got comfortable and drove away. Big mistake. Salsas were not even half full, some meat was burnt, I asked for plates and spoons, was told that all was in the bag and nope no servings. Rice was dried and beans pasty. Almost 60 dollars for a mediocre meal. Called store to at least pick some salsas and their phone is not working. Time to go elsewhere. For sure last time I drive off without checking my whole order.

Best taco place I’ve been to in a long long time. There’s salsa bar has everything you could ever imagine. I recommend the family meal so you get extra servings and the service is out of this world. Definitely recommend coming here.

Stopped in for lunch got the two taco combo with rice and beans as side, tacos were skimpy with a lot of fat and ligaments in (sirloin) meat , beans and rice were Luke warm and dried out, salsa is mid, lime were old and dry. Will see how it goes next time!

Was disappointed. The meat was tough and the flavor was eh. The size of the tacos amount of meat and salsa flavor and variety were good.
In my opinion not worth the amount of money you pay. I’ve had way better tacos for less. Up your game.

I have been coming to this place for quite some time. I have never been disappointed as much as I am today. It took almost 30 minutes to get a family platter for 4. On top of that the rice was disgusting, the sirloin was burnt like if this was their first time cooking. Service was terrible!!!

I love the build your own taco idea. The meat was well seasoned and full of flavor. The salas were fresh, spice level very clear, drink choices plentiful. One of the best options for eating at the outlet!
