From the moment we walked in, the vibe was warm, modern, and perfect for a night out. The food? Absolutely incredible. Every dish was beautifully plated and packed with flavor – the sushi rolls were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced, and the appetizers were a total crowd-pleaser.

My wife and I visited Kona with a couple friends on a Friday evening. I’ll start with the atmosphere is very pleasurable. Nice layout, comfy seating, and inviting front of house staff. We ordered several appetizers and drinks during happy hour. Our server was very nice however she kept forgetting to enter our drink orders. She forgot to enter a couple appetizers and the time it took to get drinks and apps was excessive. We finally placed our dinner orders and the time it took to get them, again, was excessive. Once dinner arrived the quality of it was subpar to say the least. The price for the quality of food was ridiculous! Three of us ordered the ribeye surf and turf. I’ve seen better quality Ribeye steak at Dennys or Ponderosa!! Each of these dinners was 58-68 dollars each! Way overpriced for the quality! Not planning to ever come back.

It was our first time dining at Kona Grill, and we had such a great experience! Our server, Fernanda, was very patient and friendly as she took the time to explain everything on the menu and even mentioned their happy hour options.
My husband ordered the KG Sliders, which were delicious, and the fries were freshly fried and not too oily. I had the Wagyu Rice, which was scrumptious! It was a bit salty for my taste, but the sauce on the side balanced the flavor nicely.
Also, the restroom were clean.
The ambiance was wonderful, cozy, stylish, and welcoming. Overall, we had a lovely dining experience and would definitely come back!

The place is NOT like it was when it opened. It’s become a bit dingey inside but something I could look past if the food was good… it wasn’t. Paid $46 dollars for a thin, boiled skirt steak you could get at any breakfast joint that they tried to pass off as a “Big Island Ribeye”. Have gotten this many many times previously and it was never like this (was previously one of the best steaks I’ve had). Then order a Moscato and am brought a chardonnay. When I ask to confirm if this was indeed a Moscato the server says yes and names off the chardonnay..I assume she was not familiar with the menu or she forgot as I asked for it to be brought out with dinner (I’d rather she have asked to confirm if she’d forgot as then I’d at least have a good wine to make up she the awful steak I didn’t eat). She at least comped the wine but not the steak that lay uneaten. Also took SO long for the food to even come out I thought they forgot about us. Overall horrible experience when you’re paying that much money. DO NOT GO HERE!

To be honest portions size is generous. The flavor not too much. Overpriced food. 6 potstickers (dumplings) literally 21$! Insane! I spent 110$ for a lunch for two people. I would like to have a more caring server next time… if there is going to be a next time… don’t think so… waste of money…

My coworkers and I walked here on lunch. This was the second time as a group we came here to eat in the two weeks that we were in Columbus. We only had about an hour and 15 minutes for lunch and we know that they have a special $20 meal deal for lunch and it promises that you’re out in 45 minutes. We didn’t even get our appetizer until the 45 minute mark. It took a while to be seated, it took a while to Have our order taken. When we finally got our Appetizers, Towards the bottom of one of the salads was a big long black hair. All of us had our hairs in a slick back bun because that’s our regulation for work. The server was kind and took the salad off of the bill, but left the other two salads on the other two women’s bill although I know that all of the salad came from one place. When our appetizers came out, we immediately asked for the bill and our food to go. Upon arriving to the office, we all started opening up our food noticing that a lot of things were missing. My whole appetizer was missing. I did not even get to enjoy my appetizer at all, it was not given to me. I asked for extra pickles and it was on my coworkers sandwich. My sandwich was supposed to have pickles and it didn’t even have any pickles let alone extra pickles like I asked for. My fiancé who was joining us for lunch didn’t even eat her food that she got to go after finding the hair in her salad. My sandwich was disgusting soggy, my coworkers chicken pate was sad and she paid $22 for it. It’s actually embarrassing. This place is going downhill really bad and I don’t see it being open much longer. One server for lunch is crazy. There were two 7 tops, 2 one tops and one two top. I would have been running laps around that place, there is no excuse.

I’m really sad to write this review because I have really fond memories of coming here before the closing and re-opening. The place is completely different than what I remember from years ago. It seems like the restaurant is in the middle of a pretty severe identity crisis. Definitely a restaurant but almost seems like they want it to be a club. Flashing yet subtle colorful lights, light fog machine in the decor, a playlist that consists of every house remix of every song ever made lol. Went on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch and think we may have been the only people in the place. The setup has always been perfect for offering top notch ambience. The retractable side patio with the indoor/outdoor bar is great.
The service was interesting, the person waiting on us didn’t seem overly thrilled to be working. The whole time we were there it just seemed kind of awkward and standoffish, but nothing necessarily negative.
The food was the biggest let down, especially since it’s all plated so beautifully. The avocado egg rolls just tasted like mashed up avocado inside of an egg roll… which is fine I love avocado but for the prices you’re paying I would’ve expected something a little bit more exciting. Their version of loaded fries also look like they’re going to be amazing but also ended up pretty flavorless. We got the coconut shrimp roll, which again, looked beautiful, but tasted like nothing at all but sticky rice. Highlight of the dining experience was the chicken fried rice. Espresso martini was also a miss for me which is odd because they offer real espresso by itself, but does not seem like any of that was in the Martini.
Because of all the fond memories I would like to return at some point, but as of now there were not too many positives of the experience.

First time at this restaurant. Good was actually not bad (very limited and out of a lot of items) but the service was terrible. We listened to server recommendations for us, was respectful the whole dining time. But he was rude to us for no reason when he gave us our to-go box and bill.
