Tried takeout from Charminar Indian Cuisine and ordered the paneer veg biryani and avakai idli. Overall, a solid experience.

The paneer veg biryani was flavorful and well-portioned, with good balance between rice and vegetables. The paneer pieces were tender and blended nicely with the spices. The avakai idli offered a tangy twist and had a nice texture, making it a different but enjoyable option.

Packaging held up well for takeout, and the portions were satisfying. A dependable choice for South Indian flavors in Whitby.

Visited Charminar Whitby recently and had a decent experience. We tried the Chicken Tikka Biryani, Chicken 555, Dal Makhani, and Chola Bhatura. The biryani was average with tender chicken mixed in biriyani rice. Not authentic. the Chicken 555 had a nice spicy kick, and the Dal Makhani was creamy and rich. The Chola Bhatura was light and fluffy

The restaurant had an average ambiance and looks very old interior. service was okays. Portions were reasonable, and prices felt fair for the quality

Massive difference between this and the Scarborough one. We ordered Paneer Shaak, Naan, Chole Bhature and Dry Manchurian.. the food was so mid. Barely any taste. Even though we asked them to make it spicier, the flavor was very mild. I understand that the demographics of this area is such that not very many people would want food with flavor but we went in assuming the food was taste exactly like the Scarborough one.

Would NOT recommend this location.

Food ok ok… South Indian dosa are not great, also sabhar is having poora quantity and quality. I would avoid this place for dosa or South Indian food. ( My kid eat dosa so we picked without choice)

About biryani – it is good and tasty. Because of it I am giving 3 star ⭐⭐⭐ review.

Location is in the centre of the city and having free parking space. Overall the experience is avarage but can be improved.

Need to wait almost 10-15 minutes after order…. There were only 2 customer inside.

Overall my experience was great. Staff (Nikhila specially) were welcoming and attentive. Whatever food we ordered was tasty and was good in quantity. We had to take away most of what was ordered . Have ample parking space outside.

We had an amazing meal here! The malai chaap was soft, creamy, and full of flavor — definitely one of the best we’ve had. The butter chicken was rich and perfectly balanced with the naan, which came out hot and fluffy. The chicken tikka biryani had just the right amount of spice and aroma, and every bite was delicious. We finished off with a mango lassi that was refreshing and smooth — the perfect way to end the meal.

Great food, good portions, and friendly service. Definitely coming back again!

Honest Review – Disappointed and Misled

As a popular and trusted reviewer, I believe it’s my responsibility to provide honest and unbiased feedback. Unfortunately, my recent experience at this restaurant was deeply disappointing and felt like a complete scam under the name of “LAMB MUGHLAI.”
Customer service was honest and somewhat better, but with much regret, I have to say that the food was extremely bad. I had ordered full tandoori chicken and lamb Mughlai, but both the quality and taste were terrible.

The lamb meat was stale, had turned black in color, and there was absolutely no freshness to it. As for the tandoori chicken, it had a strange taste — it was coated with mustard seed paste, which seemed to be part of some odd “experiment,” but it definitely did not resemble real tandoori chicken in any way. It felt like they had no understanding of what authentic tandoori chicken should be.

What surprises me is why some restaurants assume that the customer has no sense of food — as if they can just serve anything and the customer will accept it without question. Do they really think presentation and fancy menu names are enough?

My experience with this branch was truly disappointing. However, when I told the customer service rep that I wouldn’t be paying for the lamb, only for the chicken, he not only agreed but even told me I could skip the entire bill if I wanted. Still, I paid honestly for the chicken and naan.

I usually go to the Warden and Eglinton branch, which is okay in every way — the food is good and the standards are professional. But this branch’s food was extremely poor. That said, the customer service here was still commendable.

Additional Comment:
Restaurants need to understand that a customer doesn’t just pay for food — they pay for an overall experience. If food quality continues to decline like this, even good customer service won’t be enough to bring people back. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and pays more attention to food quality and authenticity.

Plastic cover in the food
My recent experience with Charminar Whitby was absolutely unacceptable. I ordered the mutton bone soup and was shocked to find a large piece of plastic wrap inside the food. This is a severe breach of food safety and hygiene standards, and it poses a serious health risk to customers. Such negligence is inexcusable for any restaurant. I have completely lost trust in this establishment and will never be ordering from or visiting Charminar Whitby again. I strongly urge the authorities and management to investigate this matter and take immediate corrective action to prevent this from happening to anyone else.

A regular customer, love their food, we do both dine in and take out. Today we ordered our usual, Royal charminar chicken dum briyani. It comes with a small box of raita,brinjal/briyani curry and 2 gulab jamun. Today they forgot the Gulab jamun, I called them up after reaching home. 1.No apology 2. Initially denied that they even provide gulab jamun with the royal charminar chicken dum briyani 3. Then asked to come and pick it up? Like hello, you failed to provide the order and we should be coming to pick this up. This happened on Feb 2,2026 between 7.30-8.30 PM. Definitely didn’t expect this kind of service from a restaurant where we love the food. NOT ACCEPTABLE
