A special shoutout to Aman, who was attentive, polite, and made sure we were comfortable throughout the meal.
The food was absolutely amazing the butter chicken was rich and flavorful, the lamb chops were perfectly cooked and tender, and the Champaran goat was outstanding with authentic, bold spices. Every dish was well presented and full of taste.
They made my mom’s b’day memorable.
Definitely coming back again!
The food was excellent—especially the Lamb Chops starter, which was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. We ordered a mix of mocktails, cocktails, as well as both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. The mocktails were refreshing and really well made. However, the cocktails (we tried bourbon and Buffalo Trace options) were just okay, and I wouldn’t personally recommend them.
Overall, we had a great dining experience and enjoyed our evening. One area the restaurant could improve on is general upkeep—the floors and parts of the interior could use regular maintenance, as they didn’t seem to be in the best shape.
Still, the food and service made it a nice place to celebrate.
The restaurant itself is a bit smaller inside than I expected from the outside, but once we were seated, I was impressed by how elegant and welcoming it looked. The décor is stylish yet comfortable, and the lighting and atmosphere make it feel warm and inviting. It’s definitely one of those places that feels perfect for both a casual dinner and a special night out.
Now, onto the food — we ordered two main dishes: the Butter Chicken and another one that had a coconut-based sauce (I wish I could remember the name!). Both were delicious, rich, and full of complex flavors. The butter chicken was creamy and perfectly spiced without being overpowering, and the coconut dish had this subtle sweetness that balanced everything beautifully. The portion sizes were generous too, which was a nice surprise.
Where the experience fell short, unfortunately, was the service. We mentioned to our waitress that it was our first time visiting and that we weren’t too familiar with Indian cuisine, hoping she might offer a few recommendations or explain some of the options. Instead, she just looked at us as if we were joking and didn’t offer any suggestions at all. It was a little awkward, and it made us feel like we were bothering her just by asking.
Because of that, we ended up just ordering a couple of main dishes instead of exploring appetizers or other menu items — which was disappointing, since we genuinely wanted to learn more about the cuisine. I think a little friendliness or guidance would have gone a long way in making the experience more welcoming.
Despite that, I can’t say enough good things about the food itself. Every bite was delicious, and it’s clear that the kitchen knows what they’re doing. If the service had matched the quality of the food and the atmosphere, this would have been an easy five-star review.
Overall, I’d still recommend The Yellow Chili to anyone who loves flavorful, authentic Indian food. Just be prepared that the service might not be as warm or attentive as you’d hope — but the food is definitely worth the visit.
