I would give this place a 5-star rating if it weren’t for the hostess. She wasn’t very welcoming. I arrived at 10 a.m. when the restaurant was completely empty, yet she did want to give me a table and had to sit on the couch. The ambiance is beautiful and cozy, the breakfast was delicious.

We went for a weekend breakfast here and found the service indifferent and lacking and the food expensive for what it was. It took close to 20 minutes just to get a latte and a coffee and even longer for the food. There was only one other table in the restaurant occupied when we ordered, so I don’t know if the kitchen was busy fulfilling room service (the restaurant is in Soho House) orders or what.

This tea service is overpriced and, independent of price, just not that good. Go to the Russian tea room instead, order the savories and the scones – it’ll be Cheaper and better.

The food: the sandwiches are ok but far too little. For your ~$80/person, you get three two-bite sandwiches but are assailed with a bunch of sweets of varying but generally disappointing quality . The scone (not scones) is blueberry and served with some sort of cream cut with sour cream. It’s not good. If I can get clotted cream at Whole Foods, it should be here too.

The tea: plastic tea bags in low quality consumer-grade teapots. Ignoring the microplastics, I got $5 to anyone who can pour a cup without the spouts on these dribbling. The tea bags aren’t labeled so if your table orders different teas, there’s no chance you get what you order – took us 5 minutes to sort who ordered what.

The service: our waitress brought 6 portions of each item on one tower. The table shape, a large oval, meant that we had to pass around this clunky, uneven tower that almost fell over twice. I asked for another tower and – get this – they had run out. Of towers. At a tea service.

Whoever put this on is clearly trying to do too much. If this was their sole focus, I hope it’s their first time. Kill this tea service, do it properly next year.

Came here for my birthday dinner. The service was impeccable and the pasta was one of the best I’ve tasted in Chicago. We loved the cozy vibes that this place offered especially because it was in cold, peak December.

Came to the Allis on a weekday morning for a quick bite. It did not disappoint. Salmon platter and avocado toast with poached egg were both absolutely delicious. On a weekday morning the shop it self was quite quiet, with only one other person, but we did come early and it did start to fill up when we left. Seating is very comfy and looks like a good place to work remotely. Would come again.

Have been to SoHo many times but never eaten at the Allis. It was quiet and peaceful on a weekday morning, with plenty of seating options available, both inside and outside. We split a few things, simple eggs bacon and sourdough, fresh fruit, the delicious crispy hash browns, and the avocado toast. Everything was fresh and tasty. The portion sizes aren’t the biggest, but we were still full by the end. Would def get the avocado toast and hash browns again.

We came here for brunch but both me and my husband left very disappointed. Not only the food was plain and not worth the money, the service was also absolutely the worst. The table and plates were not clean, plus the waiter seemed like she did not want to talk to us at all. Would definitely not come back!

My friend and I had the best time at The Allis. Shout out to Johan and Marcos for the best drinks (especially that Manhattan – not pictured though) & making our last night in Chicago so memorable!

Very lovely setting for brunch, the pictures online don’t do it justice. Service was phenomenal and the food was delicious. Will note that the bill cannot be separated into separate items, and can only be divided down the middle. Overall a nice place to eat with friends.

Gorgeous restaurant with incredible vibes. Great place for a drink, to socialize, lunch, or even study. The location was great, and I was able to walk in without a reservation on a Friday afternoon. The seating arrangements were cozy and allowed for a more intimate experience. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, though drinks were on the pricier end. The atmosphere was stunning, and I will definitely be returning!
