Jeronimo was our server and he is a very sweet young man who is eager to please. I’m satisfied with his service and I hope he’s my waiter again next time because there’s DEFINITELY going to be a next time.
Shout out to the owner Mario! Had an awesome conversation with him about Mexico City and visiting Juarez. Very friendly guy and some pretty awesome food.
I’ve been going to this local Mexican restaurant for decades. The food is good but the atmosphere is better. It’s a great place for birthdays since they sing and put on a sombrero on the birthday boy/ girl. Sometimes they have bands and there are specials every day.
We were surprised and quite disappointed that the chef did not apologize or acknowledge the mistake in any way. My daughter ended up consuming the RAW chicken, and I am now worried about her health and the possibility of her getting sick because of this. Never coming back here again and would recommend you don’t either!
Update: It has been YEARS since we’ve been back to Jax. Ole is STILL the single BEST restaurant we’ve been to for authentic Mexican cuisine. There are NO others that compare. Just went there this afternoon for an EPIC meal and everything tasted amazing! Definitely will be coming back every time we make the trip to Jax! Don’t EVER close this place down y’all!
In this area of Arlington and/or Atlantic Boulevard reaching over to the ️ beaches there are a good amount of Latin American, Mexican type of restaurants including food trucks and trailers parked on various lots.
So this review includes my incorrect perception that this is an ‘authentic Mexican restaurant.’
It is not. It is a discount Americanized restaurant with discount Mexican style foods and drinks that calls itself a Mexican restaurant.
So I’m here ordering Nachos with Beef which is standard fare as are items like tacos. The menu is good, prices are fair and I assumed it would be an entree that would meet this description. Service is good though somewhat tight. You’ll be listening to people conversations, think whining around you mixed with piped in Mexican music.
Nachos were weak chips, undercooked beef and scantly applied onions and peppers. It was just enough. No salsa included but they did add sour cream per request. (Salsa does come with entry chips. I used that). No cheese either.
Perhaps my expectations were too high. This is a discount restaurant they have a very good special board, happy hour specials and it seemed to me that some of the individuals were frequent flyers and were basically content with what they were getting.
