Social Profile:

Steak ‘n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes. For over 85 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word steak stood for steakburger. The term shake stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. Today, Steak ‘n Shake remains the better burger leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steakburgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order.

Chain known for steakburgers & milkshakes offering a dinerlike space with retro flair.

It’s a good place to eat. Quality food and always fresh. The steak burgers are very good and big. The onion rings are crispy and delicious. So are the fries. Just a short wait to get my food. Not the cheapest place to eat but the quality is worth it.

I stopped here last week on the 4th of July with my daughter. We were passing through Findlay and wanted something a little different than fast food. It turned to be a good choice. The food was much better than fast food and at a comparable price. Hamburgers and shakes were a great way to celebrate an American holiday.

Let me be clear: the employees here did nothing wrong while we were there. They were EXTREMELY understaffed on a HOLIDAY. So much so that we waited nearly an hour for 3 meals. 2:11pm ordered and 8 minutes short of an hour our order was called. The food was cooked perfectly and good as always but the management here needs to review scheduling and ensure there’s enough coverage AS WELL as backup coverage in case someone(s) calls out. Don’t be fooled into thinking the employees are the issue here.

We were taken back as we had to use a kiosk!!! But they offered to help us if we needed it. We got our orders placed without any help. Everything came out completely and correct. AND IT WAS GREAT!!!

This location offers self ordering, and they call your name when its ready. So there isn’t any “traditional service” no waitress or cashier. Lack of atmosphere or anything extra to bother going inside for. Shortage of condiments, napkins, or straws. Food was definitely not what I have known as Steak n Shake.

Honestly a 3.6 rating is really generous, the place isn’t even busy and it takes a half hour to get out and Order. The lady on the grill was making one order at a time instead of putting on 10 or 12 patties at a time and getting the food cooked, one order at a time. I remember 10 years ago before they stopped pretending it was more than fast food on a plate and the guy would have like two grills going. It was laughable watching whatever you want to call that. And all this was while they just did not take drive-thru orders at all, people pull up sit there for 5 minutes being completely ignored and pull off. There might have been four other tables in the whole place.

Another delicious fast food burger. We bought a double cheeseburger and fries from here then went across the street and purchased the same at Culvers. Really hard to say which burger I liked best, but the fries I have to give to S&S. They even fry them in beef tallow.

This is my first time at a steak and shake.
It’s a nice restaurant that could be much more.

Things i dislike…
They use kiosks to place orders instead of having top-notch customer service.
Food did not come out hot.
Paid 5.89 for 3 very small chicken tenders.
Onion that was in the steak burger was still frozen.
The fries could be thicker.
Bathrooms needed cleaned.
I avoided the manager due to her attitude towards others.

Things I like….
Milkshakes are amazing!
The fries tastes really really good!
Steak burgers are completely amazing providing there’s no frozen onions on it.
The dining room is relatively clean.
The other workers had a good attitude.

I live three hours away and all our Steak n’ Shakes have closed up so I thought I’d revisit. My food was fresh, hot and ready in a reasonable time. The staff super friendly and very personable. I kind of feel like if the shut down restaurants modeled after this store they’d still be in buisness!

Jill was great. You can tell she really cares about the restaurant. Someone in my group said the men’s room needs some work and she went to clean a few minutes after. This and so many other things shows she really cares about the customers.
