I ordered the original eggs Benedict with ham, and it was easily the worst I’ve ever had. The eggs were way overdone, the ham was extremely dry, and the English muffins were barely toasted. To make matters worse, the hollandaise sauce was sour and completely off.
The one positive was that our server was very nice and tried their best, but unfortunately, the food and overall experience fell far short. I would not recommend this café if you’re looking for quality food or timely service.
They over-peppered everything to the detriment of their food. I personally hate pepper so I may be biased, however my mom loves pepper and her biscuits and gravy was so full of black pepper it was inedible to her. The bacon was peppered, they even put a sprinkle of some spices on their sourdough toast for some reason (?). The sourdough toast was stale…not just toasted, but actually stale. Eggs were good, home fries were good but not salty enough. Their ketchup is fancy organic ketchup from Portland and it tastes weird to someone used to Heinz. No one in my party of 4 really liked their food. No one asked for a box. To top it off, their prices are pretty steep.
It wasn’t super busy, we ordered within 10 minutes of sitting down, and then waited a good 35-40 minutes. Ran out of time in the 1 hr paid parking meter even though we are fast eaters.
Atmosphere is fairly decent, but cold and a bit loud.
Also the water both times I’ve come here had stuff floating in it. They leave a jug at your table and the water is visibly not clean.
The famous pop tart wasn’t half bad actually. A bit too sweet, but it is what it is. My chicken sandwich? Looked nice from the outside but not only was the chicken so dry and overcooked it was basically chalky, it was also incredibly bland. The sauce on the sandwich too thin and watery. The only saving grace was the bun.
The potatoes? Again, look beautiful. Then raw inside. Nothing worse than raw potatoes.
My partner’s eggs Benedict was bland too. The hollandaise visually nice but really unbalanced. The cook on the eggs off too. And the muffin soggy.
It’s funny, there’s cookbooks of Thomas Keller on the shelves. Yet this place could be at best be described as a Temu version of Bouchon.
We enjoyed our time here, however were stunned by the food. While it was good food, I can’t say that it isn’t similar to most other breakfast places around town.
Also, if you do go, the strawberry bar pop tart is also a must!
