You need to get here as fast as possible! I used to live in Texas and this place is better than the brisket and other bbq I’d go for at least once a week! And Ive been searching for 12 years since I left Austin! I’m truly in heaven here! The staff is awesome. I’ve been two days in a row and will be back very soon.

So I wanted to love this place because its local and bbq. Everything EXCEPT the bbq items were good. Brisket was dry and not cooked long enough, pulled pork and chicken was dry and needed the bbq sauce that was included separately. The jalapeno sausage was really good even though it was sliced (should have left it whole) and the fried. pickles and wings were pretty decent. Mac and cheese was really good but needed a tad more seasoning. They did throw in a few free goodies which was nice but the stuff that was supposed to be the highlight was lacking. And for the price you should be making sure everything is on point 100%. I give an overall 3* because at the end of the day the food is the most important part. Btw the cornbread was phenomenal and the sides were pretty good.

Thrilled with this new BBQ restaurant!! Food is authentically delicious!! We ordered a bunch of items for our first take out order: brisket platter, pulled pork platter, pulled chicken platter, Mac & cheese bowl with brisket, plus extra sides potato salad, crispy fries and tater tots. Everything was outstanding!! The potato salad is absolutely home made and incredible!! All the BBQ items were perfectly cooked and loaded with flavor. Plus we got 5 desserts on top of all the platters & sides – $103 for all that food before tip. That’s amazing!! Great portions and prices!! Thank you for being an affordable, delicious spot for a family to enjoy real BBQ!! We needed you in our neighborhood and will continue to order from you. So glad they also have a loyalty program already in place for frequent diners – they are doing everything right!! EXCELLENT small business!!

We were in the mood to support another local #SmallBusiness. @BigDudesBigFoods took a little ride up to @TheBBQPitNJ in #HackettstownNJ for a couple of #JalapenoCheddar Sausage and #SmokedTurkey #samiches . Both are NEW menu items and both are juicy and delicious . The #homemade #HushPuppies with #MapleButter were amazing as were the #DeepFried cornbread bites. Of course, we had to try the chicken wings and were not disappointed. Robert, Stephanie and the gang really made us feel at home. We even got an early peek at the new place, two doors down, coming in 2026. If you are looking for some tasty BBQ in the Hackettstown area, look no further. #ThePitBBQ is it. #BigDudesBigFoods

Took me awhile to give this place a try, despite living just a short distance away. I’m not much of a BBQ person, but I had seen the menu and it looked like they had good burgers. Tonight I decided to give them a shot and I was not disappointed. A large 1/2 pound patty perfectly cooked, the perfect bun, perfect cheese, thick slices of bacon… really a tremendously good burger, and a serious mouthful. Ordinarily comes with house-made chips but I subbed fries, and they were crispy and delicious even after sitting in the to-go container for 15 minutes. Outstanding all around. Will definitely be back.

I recently ordered catering from The BBQ Pit for my son’s birthday, and I honestly cannot say enough good things. I had never been there before, but given how consistently busy they are, I had a feeling it would be good—and it exceeded every expectation.
We ordered smoked chicken, brisket, ribs, Texas chili, corn, macaroni salad, and sausage with peppers, and every single item was outstanding. My guests couldn’t stop raving about the food and kept asking where it came from. It was the perfect comfort after a long, intense snow day and frigid temperatures—this food truly brought us back to summer.
On top of the incredible food, the service was just as amazing. When we picked everything up, they helped carry the food to my car, packed it securely, and even let us borrow the chafing dishes. That level of kindness and care meant so much.
I am genuinely so grateful for the entire experience, and my guests are still talking about how good the food was. Thank you all so, so much—I truly hope this review brings even more business your way. You deserve it!

Amazing to have such great BBQ so close to home! The restaurant is so cozy and homey. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food-so good! My whole family loves it from breakfast to dinner (don’t forget lunch too). Great addition to the area. Happy customer who will be back many times!

Who says you can’t have BBQ for breakfast! Went with my husband and daughter for breakfast. We all enjoyed our food! My husband raved about the diced potatoes that went with his egg dish. My pulled pork hash was awesome. My daughter enjoyed her pancakes with smoked bacon. The price was reasonable too! We would definitely go back again!
