This place is amazing and so was the service. For my kids to eat a burger in a restaurant is an achievement very few places in this world can achieve. My kids all ate their burgers and loved it. My family is a large group and sometimes can be overwhelming, but these guys got us in and food out in a way that felt “fast”. That is NOT to say this is like fast food AT ALL. Families, couples, or just a solo venture to get a good burger, this place needs to be on your radar.

We always like eating here. The fancy burgers are very large and very tasty. I had the house salad with grilled chicken this time and it was really good. We also enjoyed a couple grilled cheeses and an Executive Burger. We left with full bellies and my wallet intact.

I was in town for an event and stopped in here on a Friday early evening for dinner. Better than average burger joint. I got the turkey burger on brioche with just pickles and mustard and a side of sweet potato fries. They do have vegan and gluten free roll choices available and many different toppings you can add. They had several local draft beers on tap so I had one of those too. The service was great. The atmosphere was a little dim but otherwise comfortable. The prices are good too! If you’re a burger person and in the area you should check them out.

First time in Charlottesville and on Sunday with rain in the air things were very quiet! We were looking for a place to eat and the Citizen Burger Bar was the perfect spot! We got a large 1/2 pound burger and the best grilled cheese sandwich I have ever tasted!

During my visit, Citizen Burger Bar is chill and doesn’t feel stuffy. With plenty of seating available, I sit at the bar. Customer service is good; a very kind employee is very accommodating and helps me navigate a Vegan option well. I’m not really able to eat food out of a fryer though the fries are cut in house and taste like they receive a light frying more so than a deep frying. The salad tastes amazing (I eat a little before and after the Kinda Vegan Burger [which has a Vegan version with Vegan cheese]): I’m a huge fan of Balsamic Vinaigrette. I like the Vegan Kinda Vegan Burger though the burger starts crushing (perhaps because of my vice-like-grip from me not trying to let go of such a burger ). Overall, the meal is tasty. The establishment takes different forms of payment.

This is a restaurant that I want desperately to love, but their service just keeps letting me down. I love that they focus on locally sourced provisions. I’ve enjoyed building my own grilled cheese sandwich, but be careful because things like the onion rings are about as greasy as might be possible. But let’s talk about the service. I’ve legit gone in there, been seated, and waited 20 minutes before even being acknowledged by a server. That ain’t gonna get it done. And the atmosphere is a little dank and dark; since it’s a “bar” I guess that’s what they’re going for, but to me, it being on the mall, and clearly targeting a non-bar audience, I wish it were a little brighter. In the end, good food and concept can take you far, but if your service is poor, it really hurts.

This food is delicious! Great burgers and the atmosphere is so nice. Met a friend here for lunch and it was great! Ate outside but they have indoor seating as well. I got the American Burger and my boyfriend got the Smokehouse burger.
