Me and my fiancée went to Grill 23 for Valentine’s Day yesterday and we were so excited to do so as it looked great. When we first arrived, they seated us right away which was great. We did not order any alcoholic beverages and just stuck with water. I asked for lemon for my water and that got forgotten about which is a small thing but it’s the details that matter. We then ordered the crab cakes which were amazing but the service was still very bad and our waiter had not much personality from the get. We ordered our entree’s, which was a New York strip that I got and my Fiancée got the tuna steak. The tuna steak was overcooked and it had a plastic taste to it and my steak was a bit chewy but still edible enough to not complain. We sent back the tuna with no problem and my fiancée got a New York strip, as the menu is pretty small. The steak was very tough, she said, and I agreed as well, as mine was also pretty tough. Obviously, me and my Fiancée couldn’t enjoy our meals together as we had to send the tuna back and the whole experience was not great and very unenjoyable. I have attached some pictures below as well. I really hope the service and the food gets better as this is supposed to be one of the best restaurants in Boston.

We were recommended this restaurant by Nick at the AKA Hotel. It is literally across the street. Very little wait time. Henry waited on us and was pleasant funny and a true professional. Great recommendations. The wine list. Cannot even describe. So many choices. Started with 1000 layer potato for an appetizer and shared the aged ribeye with Brussel sprouts and a loaded potato. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Excellent portion sizes. Will have to go back for the dessert later.

Very disappointing service, food and atmosphere! We booked here with high expectations and unfortunately after spending quite a fortune we left with huge regrets.
Starting with atmosphere, we booked for dinner. The place is super loud to the level that the waiter was struggling to communicate with us. We were sat upstairs and it was very cold that we had to keep jackets on!
The service given the tip we paid was very disappointing. Super slow and not very customer friendly behavior. We ordered some soft drinks and I specifically requested low on ice. The waiter completely ignored and the glass was full of ice. I asked to take reduce the ice amount and he just took some out and poured the rest in a smaller glass and brought back. We paid 6 dollars for a quarter of a glass soda!! You be the judge. I guess the business is so struggling that they need to make the money off of soft drink!
The food was the worst of all. We ordered NY and filet mignon steaks and a few sides and appetizers.
Some items were burning hot and some were cold! We ordered medium well for temperature and it was more than well done. You can see in the photos.
And of course the prices are extremely high. For a tiny piece of potato with a sprinkle of caviar you pay 24 dollars. See the photo!

Overall very inappropriately rated restaurant. Definitely not visiting this place again.

I go to dinner reservation spot in Boston. Locals recommend it and with very good reason. It is fantastic! One of the best steaks I’ve probably ever had in a restaurant. The martini with the ice on the glass is second to none. The bread basket at the beginning of your meal service is exquisite. I had a bolognese that saved half for breakfast the next morning. We then ended the night with an all American dessert. Chocolate chip cookies & Vanilla Milk. Yes cookies are warm. Yes cookies were gooey. Yes they are perfection. It was a wonderful evening with friends and I will be visiting Boston again just for dinner here.

Over the past weekend, I visited Grill 23 for the first time with my girlfriends, and it was an absolutely amazing experience! The ambiance was elegant, the servers were incredibly courteous, and every dish was outstanding. We started with the most delicious caviar and Thumbelina carrots, followed by the American Kobe Cap Steak and Prime Ribeye — both cooked to perfection. We ended our meal with their famous coconut cake, and it was heavenly! Everything from start to finish was perfect. The atmosphere felt lively and special, with guests celebrating birthdays and dressed beautifully. I can’t wait to go back again!

I feel compelled to share how incredible my experience was. It started when I showed up and didn’t realize I booked a reservation for the wrong day! The host was so nice, totally understanding (probably saw the panic on my face) and was able to accommodate us anyway!

Brown butter old fashioned was an elite beverage. The service staff was excellent and made the whole dining experience feel special. We ended up going with the salmon and a dry aged strip. Both were cooked to perfection. I asked for medium rare and I definitely got it.

Finally the dessert we ordered the coconut cake which felt like it was created with some kind of sorcery because I’ve never had a dessert so flavorful without being just sweet.

Overall, I think I’m giving the food 10/10 but the staff 11/10. This place clearly cares about making sure the patrons have a great evening and it shows. Treat yo self.

“Absolutely stellar dinner at Grill 23 & Bar in Boston! The prime bavette steak (from the Steak Frites) was cooked to a perfect medium—soft, buttery, and incredibly flavorful with that rich, beefy depth you hope for in a top-tier steakhouse. It melted in my mouth, no toughness at all.
I also had the French onion soup, and hands down, it’s the best I’ve ever tasted—deep, rich broth packed with caramelized onions and that perfect cheesy, broiled top. Pure comfort elevated to luxury.
The atmosphere is classic upscale Boston: elegant, character-filled, with warm lighting and impeccable service. If you’re in the mood for a special, high-end steak experience in the city, Grill 23 is a must-visit. Highly recommend—worth every penny!”

The service was great and the staff are lovely. The restaurant’s atmosphere is great for a date or celebration dinner.

We tried the 3 course menu at dinner. The complementary breads were actually really good and I used it to dip it in the seafood chowder (1st course) and it was amazing!! The chowder was 10/10. For the 2nd course, we tried the Steak Frites and Roasted Heritage Chicken . The steak was seasoned well (although I found it slightly salty) and was good but could be more tender. The chicken was moist and good (although the chicken breast part was a little dry). The 3rd course was dessert, and we got the Zucchini Cake and the Salted Caramel Sundae . The Zucchini Cake was my favorite!! So delicious, not too sweet, moist and went so well with the oat crumble and blueberries with the yogurt mousse (my favorite out of everything I ate).

Classy Steak & Seafood restaurant. Our steaks were delicious, tender and cooked to perfection! We had the Steak Frites and the Filet Mignon. We started with Lobster Bisque Soup. So nice to have a proper Lobster Bisque with small succulent pieces of lobster. With the steaks we ordered Au Poivre (Brandy Peppercorn Cream) on the side. If you like pepper steak, then this is a must have! The mussels were very good. So fresh and well seasoned. We finished dinner sharing a cheesecake. So delicious!

Grill 23 was very lively and fun atmosphere for a night out. Service was good. Food was hit or miss the steak was cooked rare in some parts and well done in others. Lobster bisque was great. Cold bread and hard butter are a pet peeve. Dessert was ok.
