The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant has a very unique and beautiful atmosphere. The historic building gives the place a special charm, and the overall vibe is elegant and welcoming.

The oysters were fresh and delicious, and the steak was cooked perfectly — very flavorful and tender. The drinks were okay, but the food definitely stood out.

Overall, it’s a great spot for a nice dinner with a cool ambiance and quality dishes. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Chicago.

I tend to be more critical of restaurants that position themselves among the best, because naturally I expect an exceptional experience. We had wanted to visit for a long time, and when we saw it featured on the Restaurant Week menu, we finally decided to try it. Overall, the experience was somewhat underwhelming, despite excellent service.

We started with the lobster bisque, which absolutely lived up to its reputation. The puff pastry baked on top was delicious, and the bisque itself was fresh, rich, and full of flavor — easily the highlight of the meal.

However, the experience declined with the main course. I ordered the fillet mignon, which was served without any sides. For a $60 Restaurant Week dinner menu, this felt disappointing, as you must order sides separately. We added fries and Brussels sprouts, both of which were very good, but the steak itself lacked flavor and was simply average rather than memorable.

For dessert, we tried both the butter cake and the chocolate cake. The chocolate cake was particularly disappointing — it tasted almost sugar-free and lacked depth and richness. The butter cake was better, but overwhelmingly sweet to the point of being unbalanced.

While the service was truly top-notch and the atmosphere was pleasant, the food did not consistently match the restaurant’s reputation or my expectations. A few standout elements, but overall not the exceptional dining experience I had hoped for.

What a fantastic place to enjoy a nice dinner after a long day. I was in town for work and randomly stopped by here for dinner. The staff was incredible and so energized. They could have easily dismissed me and shoved me into a corner because I was a single diner. Instead they chose to give me a great booth and a fantastic server (Bryan) who was awesome and very attentive.

The food was very good as well. Clearly freshly prepared and made to order. The calamari were juicy and tender and the sauces succulent.

The burger was perfectly cooked to my liking and expertly plated and presented.

I’ll definitely be back and will recommend this place.

The steak and the sides were all delicious and perfectly cooked. The desserts we chose were the coconut pie and pumpkin tiramisu. Both were very light and had amazing flavors. Excellent service. I would recommend for a business dinner or a romantic evening.

Absolutely incredible experience!
We came in to celebrate a milestone, and the staff went above and beyond. The food was exceptional, the service was outstanding, and the atmosphere made the night truly memorable. A special shoutout to Shannon, the GM, for making us feel so welcomed and cared for.

I highly recommend The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant — not just for their exquisite food, but for their exceptional team and service.

This was a Thanksgiving day meal.

I gave it 4 stars because of the interaction with the staff. The customer service was exceptional even though not completely sincere. They all said nice to see you again even though it was my first time there. I found it funny. I would have given it 3 stars if it wasn’t for the staff, due to the price of the meal compared to the quality. The turkey was like it was boiled, then seasoned a tiny bit. It kinda looked like those Tyson chicken breast thin cuts. I put my serving of cranberry on it as well as someone else’s to give it some life, also some gravy. The stuffing and potatoes were ok. The pecan pie was interesting but not what I expected. They were small personal pies that had very crunchy and flaky crusts. I prefer a regular old slice of pie. I won’t go again, but mostly because I’ll try to spend the rest of my Thanksgiving meals with my family.

My husband and I went here on the recommendation form the concierge at our hotel and it did not disappoint! The restaurant itself is beautiful and exactly what we were looking for in a Chicago steak house. It was also beautifully decorated for the holidays. The staff was very friendly and helpful. But the star of the show was to food. My husband had the dry aged steak and he said it was perfectly cooked and delicious. I had their 25th anniversary special which was the braised beef and it was the best meal I have had all year, and we live in San Diego and eat out at least 5 days a week. It was tender and full of flavor served with mashed potatoes, carrots and a delicious sauce. I don’t know if they will always have it since it was a special but if it’s on the menu I highly recommend ordering it. We also had the baby wedge salad, one of the best wedge salads I’ve ever had and the creamed spinach which was very good as well. The last thing to mention was the manhattan that my husband had, he said it was the best manhattan he has ever had. So if you are ever in the area definitely check it out. I will say it is $50-$100 per person depending on what you order but it was definitely worth it! We did not have time, or room in our stomachs for dessert, but I did see the dessert tray and everything looked amazing.

Great service and a beautiful space. The brussel sprouts and oysters Rockefeller were fabulous. I was not pleased with my steak though. I ordered the Delmonico Ribeye and, while good, I did expect it to be better. It was a tad overcooked from the medium I ordered and was lacking flavor.
It could’ve been a one off, so I’m not ruling it out for the future but in this instance, I was not impressed by it.

I absolutely loved my dinner here. Cristena was our waitress and provided the best energy and attitude. She gave excellent recommendations and had this positive, happy energy. The food was top tier. I got lobster bisque and it was amazing. The calamari appetizer was perfection. Their cocktail sauce tastes homemade and has such a great flavor! I woukd absolutely return and highly recommend a visit.

The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant has an old-school charm that feels both elegant and inviting. From the moment you walk in, the space impresses—warm lighting, classic wood finishes, and a timeless atmosphere that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a piece of Chicago history.

That said, our experience started off on a rough note. The male host who greeted us wasn’t exactly welcoming, which made our party of seven feel a bit brushed off while we waited to be seated. Thankfully, everything that followed completely turned the night around.

Once seated, the service was attentive, the food was exceptional, and the overall ambiance made for a great evening. It’s the kind of place that reminds you why dining out can still feel special. Aside from the rocky start, the restaurant itself was amazing—I’d absolutely come back.
