I absolutely love this place! Swahili Village never disappoints — the food is always so good and full of flavor. Everything is well-seasoned, fresh, and authentic. From the savory entrees to the sides and even the drinks, every dish hits the spot. The atmosphere is welcoming and the presentation is beautiful. This is definitely one of my go-to spots when I want a satisfying, delicious meal. Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Was excited to try Swahili Village! It was a must-try recommendation from so many people.

The ambience was great but was super disappointed in the food. May be we just went on the wrong day but was really a big disappointment for our experience. We tried a variety of options but none of that came authentic Kenyan apart from the mixed platter bitings. Also the prices were a bit too high so was expecting much better. Here are some of what our experience felt like; mukimo – made from the packaged pre-mashed potatoes thereby tasting like powder instead of waru, the green stuff also felt like powder and no actual greens, pilau was a big flop no taste to pilau, ugali like made from semolina or very soft flour. Lets just say even the protein options didn’t hit. Everyone of us left a huge portion of their meal as can be seen on the last picture.

I hope others get to enjoy a different experience.

The food is wonderful! This is an unexpected gem in the middle of an old neighborhood shopping center in Beltsville, MD. Last visit was a group of 6 and everyone was very satisfied with the taste and portion size of every dish.

Delicious! We got the platter for two, and it was MASSIVE, it could have easily fed four. Delicious tender goat and oxtail, insanely flavorful chicken, spicy joloff rice, and tasty shredded green vegetables.

I decided to go out for dinner with my boyfriend, and I’ve heard a lot about the restaurant, so we chose this spot. The atmosphere was nice, music flowing, the staff had good energy…until our server came. He was polite at first, but changed somewhere along the lines. I ordered a ginger ale and my boyfriend ordered a ginger beer. I wasn’t feeling my best, and so the ginger ale was my best option. When it arrived, I took a few sips and so did he, and both of our drinks were flat! It tasted like pure syrup – I asked the server if we could switch it out for Saratoga water instead. Mind you, the drink BARELY moved in the glass. He said, “the Saratoga is $6”….I told him that’s fine. He then responded, “I need to speak to my manager about this first.” I was shocked, just to switch out a non-alcoholic drink, because it was flat!? He returned with the waters, and gave me the worst look as he walked away. At the end, the bill came, and he charged for both the sodas AND the water. We paid, but was in shock of how he went about the situation. Needless to say, first impressions mean a lot to me, and I won’t be returning to that establishment again.

The waitor Adam was very friendly and helpful. The appetizers were nice, the chicken wings were crispy and juicy. The group platter had a decent portion and I liked the grilled goat. Although slightly salty, it feels just right if eating with the rice.

Would recommend asking for their hot sauce!

The food is expensive but delicious. They could improve their customer service by paying more attention to customers’ needs. However, the atmosphere is great, and the noise level is manageable.

If not for the service, I would give it a 5-star rating.

Ordered twice the first time they forgot one of my sides but otherwise the delivery was fine.

Second time they cancelled my delivery 2 hours after I made the order 1 hour after my driver was assigned and was on route. and when it was too late to order from somewhere else.(Right around the estimated arrival time). After cancelling abruptly, there was no communication they wouldn’t pickup my calls and no one reached out either via call or email to explain the last minute cancellation.

Consistently horrible customer service.

This spot hits every time I go there. The food and atmosphere are great. Of course, it’s busy on Fridays so good to reserve in advance.

But of course I had to get my whole tilapia (with the head on) because it’s my favorite. Africans can make great tilapia. My island people make snapper well too.
