We went with three salads and they were all home runs: the Panzanella Steak, the Raspberry Coconut Chicken salad, and the Sonora House Salad. The Sonora deserves a special shoutout — that ancho woodfired chicken breast is the kind of protein that actually tastes like it was cooked with intention (smoky, flavorful, and not dry). The other two were just as strong: steak that paired perfectly with the panzanella vibe, and the raspberry-coconut chicken combo that sounds a little adventurous but totally works.
Bottom line: if you’re looking for a place where you can order something new and still feel confident it’ll be great, Red Door in Liberty keeps proving it can deliver.
We had the fried pickles to start. They were wonderful. The crunch on the outside was really nice with a touch of parm. The pickle inside was still nice and firm. The ranch dipping sauce was great as well.
I had the meatloaf for dinner. I really like that the two thick slices were seared on the grill to add that little bit of smoke. The gravy with mushrooms was incredible and pulled it together with the garlic mashed potatoes. The roasted vegetables were really nice. My only complaint is I would have loved more carrots—they’re my favorite. Overall, it was wonderful and I will definitely be back.
The Pros: Clean environment, friendly service, and the food actually tasted good.
The Cons: Extremely disappointing portions for to-go orders.
I ordered 2 meals to go of Biscuits & Gravy, both with extra gravy. After arriving home I discovered this. One “extra” portion of gravy missing and I was shocked to find that the three gravy portions I did receive were in tiny 4oz containers (similar to a side ketchup cup).
As the photo clearly shows, 4oz of gravy is barely enough for half a biscuit, let alone a full order, and unacceptable as “extra” gravy.
When I called, the manager explained one 4oz serving is Red Door’s standard to go order size, despite pouring it generously for dine-in customers.
While he did refund one 4oz gravy serving that was never received and the cost of one “extra” 4oz of gravy (approx. $2) as a good will gesture, the suggestion to drive back for more gravy wasn’t practical.
Word of Advice: If you order this to go from Red Door Woodfired Grill, be extremely specific about wanting “dine-in portions” of gravy or you’ll likely end up overly disappointed with inadequate gravy and dry biscuits, or just eat there so you get what you pay for, an appropriate full order.
Girlfriend had the meatloaf and I had the cajun pasta.
The meatloaf dish was really good, and the meatloaf was soft and definitely tasted fresh. She loved it… ate the entire plate that included roasted garlic and real mashed potatoes. I’m from the Florida gulf coast area and have had many Cajun pasta dishes, being 4 hours east of Louisiana. The dish came topped with 5 perfectly cooked, medium sized, seasoned grilled shrimp. The flat, thin pasta (tagliatelle) was different with the texture. Possible I’m not used to having tagliatelle pasta with cajun sauce. But it still does work and held together with the sauce well. The sauce came with a few thin pieces of sausage. The “tomatoey” sauce was a different Cajun than what I’m used to, but still tasted good as it cut and balanced well with the cream. It was supposed to have crispy capers, spinach, onion, and bell peppers…but might’ve been cut too small to taste. Still, overall a really great dish.
Dessert was the delicious, warm bread pudding with a raspberry on top with drippings of chocolate syrup. It was a really large dish and was perfect to share between the both of us. We are the entire meal, all of it. Showing that this was really good food. My girlfriend very rarely ever finishes her entire plate, but she liked this one.
The service was outstanding. The main server had a trainee with him, but he was experienced from other restaurants and knew what he was doing. Overall great, consistent service. With great food, service and atmosphere, don’t expect low prices. The price of our meals met our expectations which rounded to about $50 for both of us. This also included 2 sodas, no alcoholic drinks.
