Easy seating and good service. Just stopped in for some chowders and quahog stuffies. Chowders were good and the stuffies had little clam in them. Diet coke was good. We sat upstairs and it was decorated nicely for the holiday season.

In town 5 nights visiting and My wife and I were out walking and wondering where we were going to get dinner. Stopped in and looked at menu and decided to give it a try. We sat at the bar. I started with 3 oysters and they were so delicious I had to get more. We had Charred octopus (as good as it gets), wicked shrimp, lobster roll and truffled fries. Everything was fresh and exceptional. Highly recommend.

Midtown Oyster Bar was fantastic. They were able to accommodate a party of 12 for our family’s wedding week dinner. The staff was very kind and attentive. The food was delicious, especially their seafood tower, lobster Cobb salad, truffle fries and lobster roll! They were also able to split entrees in half for people sharing (salad picture of half split portion). Highly recommend to anyone visiting Newport.

Excellent oysters. Still wish restaurants would make real chips for fish and chips but this is North America. There is a variety of seating from cozy bars to open shared tables. Very attentive service during lunch on a rainy Sunday. One must try the oyster shooters!

We came here based on a friend’s recommendation, and I’m so glad we did! Even though the restaurant was packed, we were seated within seconds of walking in (around 5 PM).
The raw oysters and clams were fresh and delicious, but the lobster roll blew me away. It was warm, juicy, and loaded with a generous amount of lobster meat Will definitely come back for another roll. Highly recommend!

Honestly, I rarely write reviews, let alone one a month later (and a long one), but this experience has really left a bad taste in my mouth (as well as my friends). While the food was delicious, the service was awful. My friends and our young kids made a 5pm reservation over a month in advance and gave notice that we would have young kids, so they were well aware. When we got there (only 5-10 minutes late – a miracle with 6 little kids across 4 families) we were immediately told we had a 2 hour limit at the table (I have worked in the restaurant industry before so while i know this isn’t uncommon this should have been told to us when the reservation was made). Our server proceeded to make several off-handed comments about the kids, including that the little lamps on the table are not kid-friendly and are expensive to replace and grabbing them away from where the kids were sitting (leaving it quite hard to see the menu for us). We were treated poorly and rushed the entire time (mind you the place did not start to actually get busy until a little before 7pm). After dinner, they did offer us a dessert menu, which my pregnant friend really wanted, but being mindful that we were on a “time limit” we asked if we could order some stuff and we’d take it to go. The server said the dessert wouldn’t take long, so we got the dessert/hot chocolate to stay, however, we were rushed yet again and the servers took our half-full hot chocolates without asking if we were done/wanted to take them to go (we would have gladly took this all to go in the first place). Anyway, I will reiterate the food was great, but as someone who has worked in the restaurant industry and as just a human being, this was not the way to treat customers. The main server was very rude and made us feel very uncomfortable. IF someone told us when we booked the reservation (over a month prior) that they were not a kid-friendly restaurant, we would have appreciated the honesty and made a reservation somewhere else as this was a special weekend celebrating old college friends finally able to get together around the holidays.
I will also note that the kids were not misbehaving, each of them ate their food and since this isn’t our first rodeo we had plenty of toys to keep them occupied. Also, no one was sitting near us let alone on the floor we were on for half the time we were there.
