Steak ‘n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes. For over 85 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word steak stood for steakburger. The term shake stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. Today, Steak ‘n Shake remains the better burger leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steakburgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order.

The service was also a plus—the staff was polite and made sure my order came out quickly, which I appreciated since some locations can be hit or miss with wait times. The dining area was clean, and the overall atmosphere felt more inviting compared to other Steak ’n Shake spots I’ve been to.
Dennisha, the General Manager, has always been friendly and welcoming since the very first time she started working at this restaurant. Her professionalism and positive attitude really make a difference in the overall experience here.
If you’re looking for a consistent and satisfying burger experience, this location is definitely worth a stop.
I am writing to report an issue I experienced during a recent visit to this locations.
I ordered an Oreo milkshake with an strawberry base and was initially told this could not be done at that location. I explained that my family owns a stake and shake in Florida and that this is not part of company policy, and once it was clear that I was familiar with the policy, the staff’s attitude noticeably changed. At that point, the General Manager approached me and stated there would be a $0.75 upcharge, which I accepted.
I also requested extra garlic spread on a sandwich. However, an excessive amount was added—so much that my daughter was unable to eat it. Additionally, I ordered my steakburger “all the way,” yet the only toppings included were ketchup and mustard.
Between the incorrect orders, inconsistent information, and the change in staff attitude, the experience was disappointing and not reflective of the level of service I expect from your company.
I wanted to bring this to your attention so it can be addressed and improved moving forward.
Thank you for your time.
The food overall was good. I didn’t discover the item discrepancy until I opened the bag at the house. Next time. Though, I’ll hold for Hardee’s.
