This is a review from a first timer. I’ve heard many good things about this local chain, and I was looking forward to trying a few items, especially the famous chili. Some of my family members have been to Zippy’s before, and they enjoy coming here when on vacation.
We had a big family lunch party, so we ordered a bunch of items. I got to try the Chili Moco, a bowl of chili (with beans), and my main order was the Saimin. After trying the chili with both beans and no beans, I prefer the no-bean chili. The saimin was delicious, but average. If you’re in the mood for soup or noodles, this would satisfy. The lilikoi drink was also refreshing and sweet.
For dessert, we shared two popular items, the Haupia Cake and Chocolate Pudding. Both were very satisfying and ended the meal perfectly. The Haupia cake was not overly sweet, and it was moist and light.
The staff seemed overwhelmed, but they still got most of our orders out quickly and maintained a friendly and attentive vibe throughout the meal.
There’s a quick-service counter for takeout and a spacious dine-in area to enjoy your meal inside. Overall. It was a pleasant first experience, and I am hoping to dine in again in the future.

Zippy’s is a Hawai’i favorite among locals and visitors. Their menu has all the classic favorites like zip pac and chicken Katsu. The have a dine in area as well as a take out counter. The bakery items are also really good and made fresh. The prices are reasonable and is very clean!

Everything you would expect from a local diner. Friendly staff, delicious food, and generous portions. We had the mini loco moco, chili rice, saimen, and salmon katsu. Nobody could finish their food. Sadly, we had no room left for their famous desserts.

Can’t go wrong with the Zip Pack. Order ahead for faster service or be prepared to wait a while for your food. Finding parking has never been a problem at the Kapolei location.

It’s the fastest service I’ve ever experienced at a sit down restaurant. Granted, it was a weekday, but we walked right in and were seated quickly. We reviewed the menu for about 5 minutes and ordered. And then, in about 5 minutes or less, our plates of food came to our table. I was astonished. We ordered the meat lover’s plate which had bacon, spam, portuguese sausage and corned beef with a choice of white, brown or fried rice with eggs cooked to order.

The service was absolutely awesome tonight! The waitress we had blew me away! The reason is because she remembered all 7 of our orders. Excellent memory. As a service industry worker from years ago her ability to remember each person’s order with all the changes plus what we drank is stunning! Our food was also on point! My husband and I had brunch. It was about 10:50 am and wanted something simple and quick.
Well, quick was out and simple was horrible. Food was a bit cold and lacking appearance and taste. At this time, there were a lot of Seniors there on a Tuesday morning. It was not really busy but the waitress was just taking their time. At least our waitress was. Both myself and husband are ages between 59 and 61 yrs. We ordered simple morning items and it arrived a bit long and sloppy. My coffee tasted the best part of my meal. Normally I would say something but our waitress was being friendly. I think she saw the look on my face.
So, I ate a bit of my meal and just watched my husband eat.
Eggs were runny, rice was under cooked, hash brown was half cooked/ half not cooked. Pancakes were dry and kinda cold. Bacon was crispy and ok. Never checked on us until we were about done and waited for the check. The check did come fast and the waitress decided on her own not to give me my Zipster reward on my bill. She waived her hand and said “you can use your $5 next time.” I was irritated. In the beginning I gave her my number to use for the rewards and said I wanted to use my reward. So over it!

I just came here to get take out and the customer service was not there. This happened on March 14, 2025. I asked a girl worker if I could order and she didn’t even look or acknowledge me and she was acting like she was taking a call and she was talking to no one. Then she walked away and went to the other phone. I ordered a mini Korean chicken and it tasted tough and cold. I was just chewing it for a while and it wasn’t pleasant. I also asked for lots of tartar sauce and lemons and I didn’t get any lemon. I was waiting on the side so that I could just grab a container of lemon and the guy worker told me I can’t order there and he didn’t even let me speak. He didn’t even ask me if I needed help. I’m not happy with my experience here. The food was cold, chicken was hard to chew, and overall just bad customer service. All I wanted was hot food and I love Zippys but the serving I got was small and it tasted like it was just sitting.
