Service, like I said, was fantastic. She delivered coffee as soon as we sat down. We asked about taking food to go for after camp set up, and she acted like she’d had that request a million times! LOL She even made sure we had utensils and condiments!)
So. The reason we stopped was actually for breakfast. Hubs had heard about the rav reviews for the biscuits and gravy. And, to be honest, they did not disappoint! Sooo flaky and buttery …. they put my boring eggs and taters to shame. I wonder, though, if the biscuits are that good without yhe gravy. We will definitely be back to find out.
P.S. After setting up camp, we settled back for our “to go” orders. Ruben sammiches on rye! Actually rye bread! Not wheat …or white like we get at home. RYE! Marbled rye, just like it was stolen from a Jerry Seinfeld character. Basically, after setting up camp, and an 8 hour drive to get there, the sandwich just hit the spot perfectly. Our waitress even remembered to keep the dressing separate so the bread didn’t get soggy.
It really is the little things that make a visit 5 star. Being greeted as soon as you step in the place. Remembering the little things like separating the dressing from the bread. Being open to the crazy idea of a to go order as we eat our breakfast.
Small town attitudes and pride shine out!!
Great service and food.
TODAY: Same $20, and it was worse than a KFC chicken fried steak. In fact, I WISH it tasted as good as KFC. The mash potatoes were cold! The veg was the only good part. The size of the fried steak was HALF the size it used to be. And the breading that made it special?? Now paper thin, falling off, and tasted of old grease! Not even salty. Flavorless . It was downright gross. My Husband ordered the same thing and it was just as bad as mine.
I can’t tell you how sad this is. It was my favorite meal ever! I used to want this meal for all occasions, and compared it to all other fried steak.
I am never going back.
Service was ok. Sever never came to check on us, so I never even got to tell her how bad the meal was. Only brought the check at the end.
Sorry Roosters. This meal lost all future business.
My only complaint would be the food. It all looked good but I found it to be really salty and or a little too greasy. My wife got the pot roast and lived the roast, but she does love Salt. I didn’t taste the meat but did try her potatoes which were homemade, though the potatoes tasted pretty good, the gravy was really salty.
I had a toasted turkey sandwich with homemade chicken noodle soup. The soup looked really good and I was looking forward to it. It has big potential, but again it was way too salty. The sandwich looked really good and it had a good amount of turkey and bacon. The first bite kind of ruined it for me. The amount of butter or grease used on the bread was way overpowering. All I could taste was the grease and the old grill grease flavor soaked into the bread. Once I removed one of the sides of bread and peeled off half the other bread, it was pretty good. I tend to order turkey club sandwiches where I go to eat so I’m kind of a sandwich snob. I had a grilled turkey club the next day and they nailed it. No butter(or very light) sourdough bread lightly grilled(not on a flat grill).
