I’ve passed this place a thousand times not ever knowing the gem that was inside. Once inside you get the feeling that you’ve time traveled back to a time when things were much simpler. One friendly smile after another. Our waitress was as sweet as she could be. There are lots of tasty sounding items on the menu. I settled on the bacon cheeseburger and along with that, the potato soup. When I say the soup was easily the best potato soup I’ve ever had, I mean it whole heartedly. The potatoes were stewed to perfection, with tiny bits of bacon and seasoned to perfection. Thick, warm and tasty! The burger was something special as well. The bun was soft the burger seasoned well and the bacon…well everything is better with bacon on it! I got fries with my burger and here is where it gets interesting. I abhor ketchup! My condiment of choice is barbecue sauce. I was a little suspicious when I saw the color. I was not wrong, it was terrible! It tasted like cocktail sauce. Lucky for me I happened to have some BBQ sauce in the car. Sweet Baby Ray’s to the rescue! The fries were cut like my mom used to do it, salted just right. I would have subtracted a star for that sauce! As a bonus, I got a lovey orange and vanilla swirl soft serve for desert. My stomach let me know that it is made with natural ingredients! Grateful for that!!
I love this place. From the retro decor to friendly staff, to the fantastic food. It’s clean and well kept (including the rest room). To make sure it wasn’t a flook, I went back today for more soup. Still good!!! I enjoyed this place. I think you will too!
UPDATE:
I went back to get some soup and some fries for the ride home… EXCELLENT AGAIN!!! Because I was picking up an order to go, I got a glimpse of the kitchen. There I saw it! The French fry cutter!!!! Yes the fries are fresh cut!!! So, so good! My diet won’t allow me to go here as much as I want, but it was made for “cheat days”!!

The burgers are phenomenal and the ambience is spot on for an old fashioned diner. It was busy on a Saturday night and the food came out perfect! We will be back!

I had to go all the way back up there to have him remake my food but all in all it looks 10 times as much better if I would have showed y’all what I got the first time y’all wouldn’t believe me but this looks good. I called back up there the manager was very respectful she didn’t hesitate to remake my food so I’ll give them that.
However they did remake my hamburgers which I asked for well done and I asked for pickles and onions which there was no onions no pickles but my fries were cold like they gave me back the same fries that was sitting up there they didn’t even give me no fresh fries but I guess I’ll have to do with that.
The cooks seem very distressed and agitated and didn’t want to remake the food. They put a whole heaping amount of onions on both burgers.
So many pickles on one Burger and I don’t know what is the aftertaste but it’s really not what I was getting before. I literally could not eat my sandwich from an off putting taste. And only one Burger was well done the second time around.

One of the best places in the area to eat. The French dip is bomb-add cheese! Their cheeseburgers are good, make it a double though and on sour dough, it’s delicious! Fries are the best!!! Soups are good too on cold days. Grill cheese is good and Ruben is good.

Stopped here as I was in the area and impressed with the previous reviews, and boy, I wasn’t disappointed! The service was great and the food was delicious! The value for your money is here as well! I would definitely stop here again if I’m in the area.

In Times Like These, I surely could use a lil more comfort food! I opened with the loaded baked potato soup. Yum ! Bacon ! Homemade meatloaf with mashed taters and gravy. Capped off with house made orange sherbet. This family eatery has been serving the city of Highland IN since 1932 !! Thank you for great service Lacey !
Now…. the problem is only that I went to a hamburger place and got meatloaf… lol… gotta go back to try the burgers. However, I know that the ladies at the next table were quite happy with their burgers..and the place was jumpin on a weekday. Cya next time

Quiet, homestyle, welcoming feel establishment. Love the soup choices and the burgers were on point. Has a retro look with the diner experience. Would definitely return!

I’ve been coming to Miner Dunn since I was born. This place is an institution in the region and they legit make some of the best burgers in the US. I usually get a salad burger but wanted to switch things up this time and went with the southwest burger. You’re not visiting unless you dip your fries in the sherbet either so make sure you do that when you go. One of my all time favorite restaurants ever.

Dine in seating was a little cramped( we were a group of 4 with a baby) but I liked the 1950s atmosphere,as it was authentic and not a recreated theme or something.
