Appetizers 前菜 – Yamazaki Ramen
Reviews
Food wise, after trying many dishes, I now always go for the same things: Takoyaki for appetizers; Charshu Don or Shoyu Ramen for main dishes. All of these dishes are like comfort food to me and are of perfect size and tastes.
Our server was kind and attentive. The food came out at reasonable times.
The place was never overly crowded, so I always felt relaxed walking in and eating in.
Now, let’s talk about the star of our gastronomic journey–the Yamazaki Special ramen. This bowl is more than just a meal; it’s a warm embrace on a cold day, a melody of flavors that sings a harmonious ode to traditional Tonkotsu ramen. With its rich pork-bone soup, tender roast pork, and an ensemble of bamboo shoots, kikurage mushrooms, red ginger, scallions, and a perfectly poached egg, it’s a dish that doesn’t just satisfy hunger; it nourishes the soul.
Alongside this noodle nirvana, we ventured into the realm of the Gyudon Rice Bowl. Here, we found a comforting assembly of sliced beef, onions, and pickled ginger atop a bed of rice, all gently hugged by a sweet dashi sauce. The seasoned boiled egg added a nice touch, though the dish played more of a supporting role to the show-stopping ramen. It’s still a solid choice for those craving a bit of variety, offering a satisfying culinary experience.
Yamazaki Ramen stands as a testament to the joys of simple, heartfelt cooking. In this unassuming spot, you’ll find dishes crafted with care, flavors that linger long after the last bite, and a reminder of the quiet power of a well-made bowl of ramen.
So, if find yourself in Bryn Mawr and in search of a quick & tasty bite, Yamazaki Ramen checks all of the boxes.
The ramen was above average in quality, I liked the egg in my Yamazaki special ramen but the broth left me desiring something with a fuller flavor and thickness. It was slightly thicker than medium, despite looking very thick. The thick noodles in the tan tan ramen were excellent, but the broth itself was unappetizing to me. It tasted very earthy, and the spice in it was pretty generic. It felt tacked on, rather than integrated. I didn’t like it much.
Good spot for ramen if you’re in the area, but for a little more travel, Terakawa and Hiro ramen win.
No parking but the restraint its self was cute and a good vibe.
A lot of pork! I wanted beef and they only had fatty beef. I got the spicy Ramon bowl, which didn’t advertise fish of any sorts and it tasted so bad of fish it wasn’t edible. I ended up getting a side of brooth just to put something in my stomach and a very small bowl was 7 dollars. I travel for work and never had anything this bad. The egg was even grey in color.
Miso Ramen, Yamasaki Ramen, Pork Bun and Onigiri were delicious.
Well seasoned, flavorful and creative. Everybody loved the seasoned egg and firm wavy noodles.
Give it a try. We will definitely be back again.
Thanks for coming to the area!
