The only place we’ll go for chicken wings! We prefer our wings charred on the outside, and the staff is always so nice and goes the extra mile in making the wings just the way we want them. Very much appreciate the effort! You guys rock!

I can’t believe a place that is called The Chicken Coop had some bad chicken wings. Their burger was better than their wings. Also their bacon wrapped chicken balls are not worth $16. Cold and old. Their wings tasted like they pre cook them and then reheat them up when someone orders wings.

I haven’t been to a restaurant with live music in a very long time!
Our total for everything we ordered was $69.48 + $15 tip:
• 2 beverages
• Hamburger – kinda disappointing. It’s advertised as “thick & juicy” but the burger was dry in my opinion. ): I will try something else next time.
• Pepper Teriyaki Wings 10 piece —> the wings were crispy, saucy, and were decently sized!
• Philly steak —> My boyfriend really enjoyed his meal. He said that the sandwich had a large blend of different cheeses. He recommends this meal!
• Thunderballs —> a good mix of different flavors. fun to eat & will definitely heat up my leftovers in the air fryer.
I plan to come back in the future to attend bingo and trivia nights!

– many TVs
– free parking lot
– live music
– staff members were so lovely & attentive
cons:
– can be loud, depends on you and what you like!

Chicken Coop is fantastic. I highly recommend all their food such as their appetizers, burgers and pizzas, but this is one of the only restaurants in town where I’ll order something that isn’t even on the menu. I tend to order a Chicken Philly off the menu but will add Buffalo sauce to the chicken for a delicious Buffalo Chicken Philly. All I can say is it is a game changer that probably should be on the menu because it’s so good! I like that they have potato skins as an appetizer. Great deals such as kids eat free on Sundays and music trivia on Tuesdays. Fun place to catch a game.

Typical sports bar atmosphere the food is so good lots of options from wings to burgers, pizza, salads, and more. There are lots of options for drinks for the alcohol lovers out there. If you go, you have to try the “Thunder Balls” jalapeño peppers wrapped in pepper jack cheese, chicken, then wrapped in bacon, then fried. It’s absolutely amazing. I love the sweet dry rub, too. Service was a little slow, but they were busy when I was there, so I can’t blame them. I recommend them if you’re in the mood for great bar food and drinks.

Ankeny, from a recent posting on facebook. My class of 1968 will be having lunch there in the next few weeks. We had some shopping to do while in town and decided to give the Chicken Coop a try, a preview of sorts, before my class lunchen, and very happy we did. I had the bone in wings, one order of 5 with the Garlic Jalapeno sauce and another of 5 with the Tropical Heat. Pam ordered hers as boneless with buffalo sauce, I had the baked beans and fries for sides and she had the onions rings.
We shared our wings and sides, all were clear off the charts in goodness. I particularly liked the Tropical Heat sauce, It had a wonderfully balanced spice heat along with sweetness, a really good flavor. I will for sure be purchasing a bottle of that for home use just as soon as it’s available. The baked beans were epic, clear over the top in deliciousness, in fact I would be willing to make the drive to Ankeny just for a side of those, yes, they are really that good.
Our server Taylor did a magnificent job of taking care of us, checking on us numerous times and very helpful in answering our questions and making suggestions. This was a very good experience, can’t wait until hungry again for and excuse to return.
The Chicken Coop earned my coveted cleaned plate, or rather licked clean plate award, our server Taylor and the food were both clear off the charts in excellence.

We got right in with no wait, this is why we went here. The food was ok, but nothing special bu anymeans. I think I had maybe 3 wings that didn’t have shattered bones everywhere I them. It was not enjoyable bitting into bones with every bite, nor safe. The menu needs updated on the sauces if you don’t have it dont put it on the menu at least cross it off (Hot Buffalo is not hot they only have one ) in a pinch we went to try it out and shame on us for that, but we were hungry. We won’t be going back to this place for the price of the food to the quality of the food just is even close together….

Ordered a Nashville hot chicken sandwich today and was brought a hot honey sandwich. When I called it out to the waitress I was told their Nashville hot isn’t red… That’s absurd. Clearly there’s a mistake somewhere. Either Nashville hot shouldn’t be on the menu if it isn’t real or the staff need to know the difference between Nashville hot and honey hot chicken.

We had to wait 5 minutes for the waiter to even notice that we were there and then we ordered which came out quick. It was nice. We go to get our check and he came back twice to ask us if we wanted our check so it took us 15 minutes to get our check. He needs a new bedside Manor cuz it’s as stiff as a board. He was not talkative. He was not polite. He was just bland I will try a different Chicken Coop. Maybe they have better service
