While driving through Missoula, one of the locals highly suggested this restaurant. So happy we listened.
We ordered the prime rib with fried prawns and the special of the night, pork shank with mashed potatoes. My goodness, both dinners were fabulous. The prime rib was tender and delicious. The prawns were huge and very good. The waitress recommended the pork shank and she was spot on. It was seasoned well and fabulous. We were very satisfied with our meals. We tried their dessert, apple crumb pie a la mode and OMG, so freaking good.
The service was spectacular! Our waitress was engaging, friendly and a sweetheart. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We just had dinner at Kampfire the first time! It was the best food in all of the Missoula area. Best food in Montana! Everything we ate was absolutely amazing and that’s just a drop in the bucket compared to the service we got from Jessica. I literally stopped mid meal and made more reservations. Nothing compares to this place. It will be our permanent date night spot, moving forward. Up your game Missoula, none of ya’ll compare to Kampfore Steakhouse!

Can get a little loud, but don’t let this deter you. Food is amazing. We often have Lori as our server and she is one of the best servers around. My wife and I went last night. We both had prime rib which was cooked to perfection. We had crab cakes as an appetizer which are hands down the best we have ever had. I also added 2 prawns to mine. Might order the prawns dinner next time as they were amazing. Make sure to make reservation though to prevent long wait.

Stopped for lunch. My friend had the 8oz sirloin. Was cooked to perfection. Medium rare. He had Tomato bisk soup . Also very good. I had the Garlic 1/2 lb beef burger. Also cooked to order and perfect. Nice few Montana beers on tap. We left very satisfied.

First visit to Kampfire was back in May, 2025 – was remarkable. We were impressed especially by the filet mignon.
Second visit in Nov., 2025 was less impressive. We all loved the sweet potato fries! The full rack of ribs was delicious. Other items were average.

Traveling from Seattle and wanting famous Montana beef so found this place during search in Missoula. Though it turns out it is a lot further we were hungry so stopped. Parking lot was rather full so worried about getting to eat soon as neglected to make reservations but we were in luck. A two top high top available so was seated within 5 minutes. Our server arrived within 10 minutes. Mason took our order so we sat and enjoyed ambiance. Happy that college football was on several TVs including my Alma Mater UCLA so did not mind wait. Mason brought our drinks and two rolls with butter. Nothing spectacular.
Food came, I got ribeye after seeing mixed reviews about prime rib. Hubby got prime rib sandwich with quarter inch ring of fat which he promptly removed. I always order meat medium rare and hoping done correctly, I was only half fortunate. Probably how it was placed on grill, one have was perfect medium rare with enough red but other half was over barely pink. It was odd, but I was hungry and did not complain.
Service was ok as although Mason would occasionally walk by to check, he neglected to note I had glass of ice cubes no water.
For us 2, with gratuity it was $88.
Just happy to get seated and watch football while waiting.

Had a great experience on Valentine’s Day. They were very busy but still got us to our table pretty fast. They had a charcuterie board app special and we also did the crab cakes. We split the shrimp scampi. Everything was delicious! Definitely recommend giving it a try.

The service team work well together and food always came out quick and hot. Their menu is worth the price. And while the crab cakes were 26 they are made with good lump crab. probably knuckle meat. The arugula was great with a little bit of dressing on it. I highly recommend the crackheads either for a single meal order split for an appetizer.

Let me start off with what’s good which was hands down one of the best salads I’ve ever had. I got the steak chimichurri salad and it was delicious. My husband got a $50 steak that was incredibly undercooked and just okay. We had to wait over 30 min and had a reservation but the service was great. I’ll definitely be going back for that salad again! Maybe order your steak a level above what you’re hoping for? That’s what I’ll be doing next time.

Wonderful bacon wrapped filet mignon with luscious mashed potatoes! Started with clams with a chorizo and red sauce for an Italian flavored delicious appetizer! Highly recommend & looking forward to my return visit!
