If you’re craving an authentic taste of home, Bengaluru Thindi Garage is a Saturday must visit. Their Masala Dosey is legendary perfectly crispy with that signature red chutney and organic ghee. The chats are equally impressive; the Masala Puri and Sev Puri have that genuine street-style flavor that transports you straight back to Bengaluru. Even the Tatte Idly and Vada are spot on, served with fresh, home-style chutney.

This for me is hands down the best bengaluru style dose in bay area. The roast personally for me is always near perfect, the palya is amazing, the red chutney they put inside the dosa is to die for. Besides the dose we have tried the chow chow bath and holige and both were amazing too.
They used to have pre-orders but have now moved to walk-ins. We have visited many times between 9AM -11AM and have always received our order within 15 mins.
What I also love about them is they prioritize to serve fresh food and not store ingredients in the fridge. Due to that they sometimes might be out of 1-2 special items if you arrive later (has never happened to us though), just order anything else from the menu and you won’t be disappointed.
She (the owner and cook) seems very passionate about cooking. She is out many times serving, if you ever have feedback feel free to share with her, just try to be kind 🙂 Remember that this is a woman owned small business and she works very hard to get us a taste of our beloved home !

This review is coming from someone who’s born and brought up in Bengaluru eating the Dosè and making Dosè all his life.
Firstly,
Dosè – The Dose was good. It had the skin care routine of what Bengaluru Dosè’s have and the crispiness on the outside and soft on the inside. It was really good .
Thatte Idly – I loved this. Took me back to Brahmins Thatte Idly back home in Bengaluru. Would def recommend.
Chutney – Okay now this was disappointing. Chutney and Dosè are both equally important when it comes to experience of eating Dosè. It tasted like any other generic chutney you get at any other random south Indian place in the Bay Area.I really feel they can improve this.
Would I recommend this place ?
YES!,
Because the Thatte idly was great and the dose was good!

The best dosa (dosey) in the US. I have it early at 9 almost every saturday and thanks to BTG I never miss out on my cravings for bengaluru style dosa (dosey). The chutney is always fresh and room temperature, (in the days of refrigerated pre made chutney), the red chutney within the masala dosa is a game changer! Shout out on that! . The crisp dosa coupled with the right amount of softness with the “authentic” taste of the dosa itself makes our weekend special!

Very crispy Bengaluru style masal dosey. The best in Bay Area if you are looking for authentic fresh dosey. We really liked their tatte idly. Their chutney is delicious very similar to what we make at home. Spice levels are very kid friendly. Tried their kayi obbatu which had good amount of filling. Our family liked their idly a little more than their dosey.

After trying out almost every place in the Bay Area for dose, this is by far the closest I’ve come to a true Namma Bengaluru style masala dose perfectly crisp on the outside, generously layered with that authentic red chutney and classic aloo palya inside. On a cold morning, paired with hot filter coffee, it instantly transports you back to the timeless charm of CTR and MTR and vidyarthi Bhavan
Their idli with udupi style sambar is also something you absolutely shouldn’t miss. A must visit if you’ve been craving the true taste of Namma Bengaluru.

Recently went for a Saturday breakfast based on the Reviews. Pros : Dosa was good – karnataka taste. Idly taste is good, cons: Most expensive Togo place in Bay Area with a garage like setting . $15$ for a small masala dosa . No dine in place just outside two benches in commercial building space close to the parking lot . Surrounding Area is not that great with RV’s parked on the street. All foam based plates for to go. Chutney Sambhar options are very limited for the dish. Only Venmo and Zelle options. No itemized receipt. Smell near the place is not that great for the eating environment. There are better options in the Bay Area .

The wait time is a lot. Don’t go when you are hungry. The dosa was good but they provide just one chutney and doesn’t seem value for money. For me the dosa is not worth the long wait esp for the one chutney. I would rather go to other restaurants that serve benne dosa. Their filter coffee was good.

Fantastic dosa. This is the best dosa I have had in the US (and I have lived here for a long time in many cities).
Bangalore style dosa is legit!

Absolutely the best dosa in the US — just like Bengaluru!
The flavors are spot on, and the pani puri masala tastes exactly like the authentic street food back home in Bengaluru. If you’re craving that true Bengaluru-style experience, this place is a must-visit. Plus, the owner, Pooja, is incredibly warm and welcoming — she makes you feel right at home.
