We had dinner at the Messina Hof restaurant in College Station recently, and honestly, it was an easy five-star experience. The atmosphere was great, but the food and the service were really what made the night stand out.
We started off with a Caesar salad, which was super fresh, crisp, and had just the right amount of dressing. For our mains, we went with the salmon and the pasta. Both dishes came out perfectly cooked and were absolutely delicious. The real highlight of the meal, though, was the Zinfandel we ordered. It was amazing and paired incredibly well with everything we ate—I highly recommend grabbing a glass or a bottle if you go.
A huge shoutout to our server, Ashlyn, who really took the experience to the next level. She was so friendly, perfectly attentive without hovering, and just made sure we had a great time all night. Between the fantastic food, the great wine, and Ashlyn’s top-notch service, we couldn’t have asked for a better dinner. We will definitely be back!

I’ve been here a number of times now, and it absolutely never disappoints. Amazing food, wonderful wine, and outstanding service.
Every.
Single.
Time.
It’s usually a quiet and cozy atmosphere.
And reasonable priced considering the phenomenonal quality of the dishes.
The waistaff manage the perfect balance of attentive without being overbearing.
It is probably my favorite place to have a nice meal and a glass of wine.

From the moment we arrived we felt truly welcomed. The atmosphere is gorgeous, warm and cozy. Jackson and Brooke greeted us with genuine smiles and provided the utmost service. I can’t say enough about the food and wonderful wine selection. Absolutely amazing.

We went for dinner on 5/9/2025.
The inside of the building was gorgeous and the service was amazing. Docked points off of the atmosphere for the strange music choice. It sounded like early 2000/2010 pop music which didn’t fit the vibe.
The focaccia tasted a bit undercooked and the chicken was described as stuffed with spinach, Gorgonzola, and cream sauce. When it arrived, the chicken was not stuffed but covered with sauce. It’s a small thing and I understand that they simplified their menu for graduation weekend but I wish it matched what the menu promised.

The new menu is amazing! Service was great as always with Gabriel presenting the perfect wines to pair with my food and the manager, Madeleine, even checked on me. The vintage house has always been the perfect place to bring visiting family for a good time. I will definitely be returning again.

We have been to the Vintage House many times and have had excellent service and food. However, this time we don’t know where the wheels came off. The disappointing experience began upon arrival. We arrived for our 5:15 pm reservation for 4. There was one table of people in the front dining area and 2 tables with people in the back room with views of the vineyard. The remaining tables in the restaurant were all vacant. The hostess began to seat us in the front room and we requested to be seated in the back dining room with the view. The hostess said she couldn’t do that. We asked if it was because it was the VIP area, because we are VIP wine club members. She stated no it wasn’t that, there would be a mix of people in there, wine club members and non-members it was because she was putting the 6 pm reservations in that room. We mentioned that was nearly an hour away and asked was the restaurant going to be full at 6 pm? She said we don’t want overlapping reservations, so we just let it go and sat where she put us in the front room. After we were settled in, had waters and ordered wine, she came back and said if you really want to move, I can move you to the back room. But you will be sitting at the table in the center of the room, which was a non-issue, because we have sat at that table before and it is just fine. We told her we are already settled in at this table and will stay here. We are not sure what changed to have her return and make the offer, but we remained where we were in the front room. As it turned out, we should have moved to the back dining room and that will become clear as I get further into the evening. Appetizers and a bottle of wine came to the table. The waitress poured the wine, took our dinner orders and left us to our conversations. Approximately 30 mins later we are the only table in the front dining room, and only 2 other parties came in and were all promptly seated in the back room. Mind you, the center table and numerous others are still vacant in the back dining room. At one point the waitress stopped by the table and wanted to clear the appetizer when we weren’t done, and one guest said no please stop, I still want these. The waitress seemed somewhat shocked and took some of the plates and left. Another 20-30 mins goes by and not once did she return to our table, to pour wine or ask if we need anything. But she and other wait staff were running back and forth to the back dining area serving those patrons. When our food finally did arrive, she asked if there is anything else you need. We said water refills, since there had been none in the hour we had been there and we asked for ketchup because 3 of the entrees came with fries. She returned with 3 small individual portions of ketchup. There are 3 orders of fries and 2 rather large burgers, so we assumed she would check back and bring additional if needed. Keep in mind, the waitress walks directly by our table every time she enters the back room to serve the other patrons. One of our guests flagged the waitress down twice as she was rushing to the back dining room. The first time, was ignored or not acknowledged, the second time she stopped and had a look on her face of shock, like we interrupted her. Our guest asked if as soon as she had a moment could she bring some additional ketchup. By the time the waitress returned to the table, I had already provided my ketchup to our guest and she was finished eating. The French dip was fine, the burgers were flavorful, but overcooked, they were actually near welldone, there was zero pink inside. This experience was surprising to us compared to the many other times we have been to the Vintage House. One of our guests wanted to speak to the manager, but once the bill was brought to the table, the unattentive and dismssive wait staff disappeared, so we finally left after being there for about 2 hrs. This negative experience does not reflect the other postive experiences we have had there.

This was a surprise birthday dinner for me from my husband and we were very disappointed with our experience. He felt so bad that my bday dinner was spent with me literally not eating my food. This was our first time there and unfortunately, our last based off that visit. Multiple items did not come as described on the menu because they were missing ingredients. For example, I ordered the Shrimp cavatappi with crab and there was no crab at all and the shrimp were so so salty. Also our appetizer was not as described. Additionally, the quality of the food just wasn’t there. The Mac and cheese was extremely oily and grainy and I didn’t even eat it. Our waitress was not very interested in waiting on us so we never even bothered to let anyone know and we chalked it up to an expensive lesson. Our experience was shocking to us based off other reviews and our experience via the VIP club. The grounds are beautiful and the restaurant has a great atmosphere.

We gathered at The Vintage House to celebrate my son receiving his Aggie Ring. Ashlyn took amazing care of us from start to finish. Our appetizers (fried Brie and polenta tots) were both served piping hot and delicious. Every entree we ordered was not only delicious but looked fabulous as well. We ended with desserts and they were the perfect conclusion to an outstanding meal. We cannot wait to return.

Really nice inside, it is cozy. Service was good, waitress & waiter checked on us frequently, but it did take a while to receive water and the bread. The brisket was a little dry. Overall the dish was good. Plenty of parking, there are turtles you can feed if you ask for food in the tasting room. Nice little walk outside around a pond.

We were staying at an RV park nearby last weekend. Did curbside pickup for our anniversary dinner. Hubby had the ribeye and I had the flatiron steak. Both were delicious although my flatiron was a little too rare for “medium”. Couldn’t eat part of it. The mashed potatoes were very tasty and the vegetables were crisp and flavorful. We got the white chocolate créme brûlée for dessert—it was great! I wish times were different where we could have eaten there and visited the winery, but thank goodness for curbside! Ready on time and friendly, masked service.
