Popped in on a Thursday night, staff were all very friendly and efficient, service great.
Portions were huge and food well presented & tasty.

King prawn puri was delicious, as was the tandoori sea bass which was served with rice and a lovely sauce.
The hulk kebab was definitely aptly named!

Ordered from here while I’m up in Montrose through Just Eat. Took about an hour to be ready – fair enough, it’s a Saturday night, I get it. But when I got there, it was total chaos. Folks had been sitting waiting for ages while their food sat on the counter going colder by the minute and the front staff were trying to read names on tickets like they were deciphering ancient scrolls.

Eventually got my food, and honestly… I wish I hadn’t bothered. On their own app, the Chicken Tikka Naan looks good proper chunks of chicken, salad, naan folded up nice like something you’d actually want to eat. What I got? Well… picture a naan that’s been through an identity crisis. A thin layer of chicken paste spread inside like someone just whispered “flavour” over it and called it a day. Looked less like a meal and more like a naan that got into a fight with a chicken and lost.

The “tikka” part was so minimal I was tempted to phone them and ask if they’d accidentally sent me the vegan air naan. If I wanted to play “Where’s the chicken?”, I’d buy a kids’ puzzle, not dinner.

And to the young lass at the front — if you’re gonna have a gossip about your workmates and customers, maybe whisper next time. We can all hear you, and honestly, the entertainment was the best part of the visit.

Overall, this place was more of a sitcom than a takeaway. Food’s cold, staff’s confused, atmosphere’s pure awkward. 1 star — and that’s me being generous because the foil was shiny.

Group of nine dining-in for a birthday tea on a Monday. Super service, super food and a fair priced tea time set menu with starter, main and dessert. 7 adults and two children. Lovely starters. Good choice for children as well (the usual pizza/ nuggets but also offer same choices as the adult menu)

Discovered the Sher-E-Bangla in Montrose yesterday – absolutely B A N G I N G – as well as the “mock meat” options they have lots of veggie side dishes (if mock meat isn’t your thing), forgot to take pics of our starters – poppadoms, onion chutney (very moreish) and onion bhaji with 3 sauces. The mock meat was cubed, “chicken”-style, soya-based stuff, nice texture and flavour. 10/10 would recommend, absolutely over the moon to have discovered this.

The place is like walking back in time, where attitude, flavours and style have not moved on since the 80s. It is conceivable that the restaurant knows the market and has been popular for a very very long time. Perhaps even considering itself an institution. Most people in bigger cities recognise the joy of Indian food. That it can be packed with flavour, (and spice); it can be fresh and vibrant. Vibrant does not mean an extra splash of red food dye. Thick stodgy sauces have a place, but not to the extent on display here. The menu is extensive, but choice is limited. This place lives well within it’s comfort zone. The food, as it was, was fine. The beer, when it came, was fine.

With lot of expectations for Indian food, We visited ‘Sher-e-Bangla’ restaurant, which is located on High St, Montrose, United Kingdom.
I asked waiter for the best curry they have. So, he suggested to taste ‘Sylhety shatkora and Naga chilli bhuna’. We ordered both curries.
Though they call it as Indian restaurant and the food as Indian, it is absolutely not. As an Indian and tourist, I am very much sure about the taste of Indian food.
I am very sorry to say that Curries don’t have real indian taste, It might have Bangladeshi touch. The curries in this restaurant had the taste of boiled vegetables, also the proper combinations of spices was missing. The height is both the gravies was testing the same. If the best curries have bad taste, you can imagine the tastes of rest of the curries.
Also I heard alot about Garlic naan from locals. But again we disappointed with It’s taste. Most of the portion of naan was unroasted and no sufficient garlic content.
All in all, the most of the names of curries and dishes are indian but taste is not really indian. These might be having Bangladeshi flavours. Awful experience.
The real indian food is delicious, mouth-watering and each curry has it’s distinct taste. I would not recommended this restaurant to anyone who likes Indian food. This restaurant is for those who don’t have an exposure to Indian food or don’t have options for spicy / hot curries.
I hope for improvement in tastes.
Thank you.

Brilliant curry, and lovely service. I was dining alone and asked for a half portion of rice. They explained they cook portions to order at a regular quantity so I opted for the nan instead, which was one of the best I have ever had. When the curry was served they gave me a small bowl of pilau rice….lovely touch and very much appreciated. Well done…Great curry…Great service
