The sushi were very fresh and the flavor was very creative. The quality is hard to find. Then the ten don was surprisingly impressive. At first I thought it looked oily (shiny) but wait it’s glazed with sugar! Made it really enjoyable. The tempuras – shrimp, eel, fish, mushroom and sweet potato are all delicious.

I really love dining here. I first discovered this sushi place by accident when I was taking a class nearby, and since then I’ve invited friends here and even come to celebrate special occasions.
The food is very fresh. My favorite is their clam soup — it’s very hard to find this in Los Angeles, so I always order it as my side dish. And of course, I highly recommend all their sashimi — it literally melts in your mouth!
The servers are attentive and efficient. I love choosing the semi-private counter seating right in front of the chefs — the atmosphere is great! I highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Los Angeles who wants a quiet place to enjoy good food and conversation.

Came on Valentine’s Day, amazing service! They were so kind & attentive despite business. Handrolls are some of the best in LA. Sushi is absolutely delicious and super fresh. Got the sushi set & Yuzu halibut was one of my favorites! New favorite restaurant in little Tokyo. It was reasonably priced too.

Ootoro is certainly a premium experience. With a dark and elegant dining room, the feel is intimate yet sophisticated.
The menu is extensive, and the sushi selection is complete. There is a fair amount and variety of Japanese cuisine items. Noted item with an availability of Uni Pasta and cooked seafood items to enjoy. There is also a nice drinks menu, giving this restaurant a great entertainment vibe.
On top of the menu, there is a focus on Omakasa. The bar dining area is very inviting for such an experience.
Servers are overly attentive and sometimes make the dining experience feel rushed. They are very good at explaining things and may be overly zealous with their reminders.
The cuts of fish are fresh, nicely prepared, and the dishes are smartly presented. The pricing for such delicacies is a bit exorbitant for the size of cuts they serve. On one visit, the Nigiri was small and thin with poorly rolled rice that fell apart. The Sashimi is sized average and delicious.
This Japanese/Sushi restaurant is an experience. Priced for special occasions, entertaining, or impressing.

Had an amazing dinner here on a Friday night. Had to park a block away at a meter, but felt safe enough at 5pm. We asked to sit at a booth. We were first served hot tea, which seemed like matcha green tea. I ordered seafood tempura which was so crispy hot and delicious and included lobster tail and other high quality seafood plus vegetables. So much I couldn’t finish it all. My husband ordered the sashimi deluxe which came with a bowl of rice. It was melt-in-your-mouth good. There was a shrimp head and they asked if he wanted it deep fried or in soup. He chose soup which was like miso with the shrimp head in it, very tasty. They offered dessert but we were really stuffed from the dinner. The portions were generous. It was a bit over $100 for the two of us but worth it.
P.s. Some reviewers said the wait staff was too attentive. I found them to be perfect, there when needed but unobtrusive.

I loved the food, and the place was spotless. I would have liked the waiter to recommend or explain the dishes better, especially the fish, since even with the photos, we didn’t fully understand the options. Still, a perfect 10!
The sashimi poke salad was insane.

Delicious food but the service could be slightly better! We were initially denied a free hand roll even our reservation was based on their special menu (comes with a free hand roll) and promotion during the LA Food Festival. They don’t do valet parking. It cost me $30 to pay for the parking at around the corner while my meal cost $300. It was for a one-time experience only but it was worth it!

This place is delicious! We usually go to Sushi Gen, but didn’t feel like standing in a long line. We found this spot in Google and we will definitely be back. We had their sushi platter for lunch and everything was melt in your mouth delicious! Red snapper was my favorite!! Definitely recommend this spot if you want a nice atmosphere, great service, and high end sushi!

Been coming here for years and their quality is always great and consistent. I get the premium or regular chirashi bowls and a few individual items like the amaebi and hotate. Love how they let us use the shrimp head to make miso soup or fried which are both delicious. Fair value and beautiful interior and spacious.
