I’m from out of town, but I make sure to eat here every October during Meander. All their sandwiches and soups are great, along with an impressive selection of pies. It doesn’t get any better than homemade food, great prices, super friendly staff and a cozy, old-fashioned, small-town cafe environment. (maybe there could be some background music playing in the dining room? Just a thought) 🙂

We’re new to Montevideo and decided to check out the area eateries.
When my husband and I were looking to go in one of the doors, one of the waitresses saw us and referred us to a certain door to enter more easily by. I’m in a wheelchair and sometimes entering an establishment can be difficult. But we were ushered immediately inside and another waitress was preparing a table for us.
We were impressed by the quality of the service and the food was delicious!
We’re coming back here again!

We had the ham and cheese sandwich, pumpkin pie, rhubarb custard pie, macaroni salad, and creamed turkey soup.
Waitress was very attentive with a great sense of humor. Food was scratch cooking, and excellent. Super clean restroom and quaint home town ambiance.

We were greated with a smile by the owner & she welcomed us right in & say us right down. Really cute cozy place. Great for groups or if you want a romantic time with your sweetheart! The best food in town. Real home cooked meals! They have fabulous homemade items that come straight from their kitchen that only they have the recipe for. Large portions as well. Watch out when ordering a salad, you might want a 1/2 salad. The severs were top notch! Fastes service I’ve probably ever had…& All with a smile! My hat off to the chief as well. Real team work for a terrific meal & experience! It is a very clean restaurant as well! That’s now the only restaurant ill chose when I’m in Montevideo! But you gotta get there early if you want breakfast. By 11am.

So many healthy options, which is a welcome treat for traveller’s! Had the blackberry turkey salad with dinner roll. The salad was so fresh and delicious and the dinner roll melts in your mouth. Then, the olivepeno chicken sandwich and turkey potpie soup!!! Couldn’t put down the sandwich on a homemade bun!! Great find !!

I’ve not been able to eat here yet. I keep trying but they are always closed up. I understand if you need to change your hours, however update your hours online as well. I hear great things about this place but due to work and other time constraints it is hard to plan to go, however when we plan to go they are closed early.

Was traveling through Montevideo on our way to South Dakota. Decided to stop at this cafe for a lunch with the family. GREAT service. So glad we stopped. Food was delicious.
