I will be honest. This is almost $30 and it barely has meat in it even though she said she was going to add an “extra”. I was even more upset that the fufu was cold. They probably just heated everything up in the microwave. The lady looked annoyed when she was taking my order and to the other customers. She doesn’t even take time to be with customers and tell them what food they’re going to get because she was busy with a yt client. However, the young guy that was up front was very pleasant to the customers coming in. There is also no price at the big menu so don’t be surprised if they overcharge you. They also don’t give receipt. I think this place is going to close soon because of the service and the negative reviews from the actual owner.

I mean wow!! This food is so delicious! I am coming back again and again. The owner is so nice so considerate. The wait was a little long but it was a lot worth it!! I wish they were in door dash or Uber Eats because I’d be ordering all the time!

We ordered this to go while visiting Kansas City, and my husband—who went in to order and pick it up—raved about how kind the owner was. When he brought the food back to the car, the kids and I couldn’t help opening it right away. The smell was absolutely heavenly!
She warned him that the egusi might be spicy and asked if that was okay. He said yes, because we can usually handle some heat… but we were not prepared for that level of spice . That said, the flavor was incredible.
We also ordered the peanut butter soup, and my children and I still talk about it to this day. I genuinely recommend this restaurant to anyone who will listen—we’ve already planned a trip back to Kansas City specifically to order it again (and visit a few museums, too).
I can’t wait to try more items, in addition to reordering everything we’ve already had. To say this food was life-changing would honestly be an understatement. It may sound dramatic… but it’s the truth.

I’ve been to a few African restaurants here in KC & none of them compare or are as memorable as Angie’s. From the hospitality, to the communication on what everything is & how it’s prepared, to the flavorful food. This is by far one of my favorite places now.

The food was bad. They fried the rotten plantain and serve with the burn untasted fish, we spent $92 there, these foods didn’t worth the price. Even my husband’s egusi soup was bad. I’m African and I know African food tastes so if you don’t know how to cook please don’t serve rubbish to people

Me and my family went to this restaurant and the food was so hot and spicy we couldn’t eat it. The prices are more then the menu says. We bought the rest of the food home thinking it would cool down. Not at all. Who ever is cooking this food they are adding too much heat. Our bill was over $100. This was the worst meal ever. The taste was good but to much heat. I didn’t eat all day long waiting to try this restaurant. What a disappointment.

As a KC native, I had a difficult time finding a truly authentic African restaurant until now. I never knew Angie’s was located here because it was so deep in the cuts, but I’m so glad I discovered it! From the moment I walked in, everyone was incredibly welcoming, and it felt like home. The fufu and soup were delicious, with just the right amount of spicy, just like I wanted. I also ordered the Acheke with fried whole tilapia, fried plantains, and vegetables. Everything was freshly made and you could tell she took her time cooking this. Oh my gosh! As a true native Ivorian-Liberian, I can tell you that this woman can cook! Everything was seasoned perfectly and full of flavor, right down to the pepper sauce. I will definitely be coming back, Angie, and thank you for making me feel at home!

The food is really good. The Egusi didn’t taste like Egusi though. I want to taste the Cassava Leaf/Potato Greens since I know that the lady is Liberian.
The place is painted beautifully but all the tables are dirty and broken.

I just wasted $63 on egusi and fufu and rice , only to find that my protein was all bones. I was disappointed because the staff at the front table had to bring me some beef after I showed him what his partner served me . He was speechless. The quantity of fufu was also very small. Yall need to improve your service. This is very disappointing.

I was in Nigeria last year and had bangs soup for the first time, so seeing it on the menu online I had to try this restaurant out. It was sooooo good, meat pies were so fresh and tasty, and that red snapper was magically delicious. We’re here at the HARRAH’S casino but will definitely be back
