A true hole in the wall gem!!! Food was so flavorful and there were tons of great options, we struggled to make decisions!! Between the amazing food and the friendly, thoughtful service, we 1000% will be back! I think this just because our new go-to spot!! Pics: The lumpia was fire (didn’t get a pic of the full plate before we dove in so you’ll see just one!) chicken sate was amazing along with all the other dishes we got

The food was okay and had a bit of that “home” feeling, but the flavors weren’t exactly what I expected. Some dishes reminded me of Indonesian cooking, but overall the taste could be better. Still, it’s a decent spot if you’re craving something familiar, just not the most authentic I’ve had.

Best Indonesian restaurant in all of Los Angeles. All of the food is spectacular, and all of the dishes are exceptionally unique. The owner is wonderful and brings a lot of flavor from her hometown. I suggest you come and try all of the dishes alongside some of the desserts.

Coming here you will get a taste of Indonesia and the regional cuisine. Don’t forget the amazing lunch specials at $13.99, a deal that can’t be found anywhere.

It’s very rare to see Indonesian cooking done properly here in LA. It’s part of my heritage, and yet it’s a food that hasn’t even remotely become mainstream.

This small restaurant truly packs a punch. Totally authentic Indonesian food. It reminded me of the food I ate in Bali from the local cooks.

I could honestly go on forever about the joy this food brought me, but I’d rather everyone try for themselves. Trust me, you’re going to love this place.

Update: went again and its still great! I will keep coming back =)

The food is delicious and the service is great! I actually came in 30 mins too early and they still sat me. Having travelled to Indonesia, I really missed their food so I’ve been searching for a good Indonesian place for forever. 10/10 would definitely come again.

This is my second time coming here and I can’t get enough. It is a hole in the wall place but the food is excellent. We love the fritters and beef soup for appetizers and the noodles and fried rice is superb! Something for everyone. The server is so nice and helpful. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back soon!

When the chef and owner is a husband and wife team whose dream was to set up a restaurant for the past ten years you know you have a dedicated and committed team that will ensure your food is the best that they offer. It’s almost like going as a guest and they hosting at their house. I went on an evening coming from LA when HWY 101 was jammed packed and it was such a respite. They are serious about food safety and also taste at the same time. Their chili and sambal sauces are really good and authentic. And they have a variety. If you are vegan ask them for recommendations and what they can tailor to suit.

Wonderful meals that are very well prepared and very tasty! The place is a little “crowded” in space, but the food and service makes up for it 🙂

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Laalaapan Review

Laalaapan delivers bold, authentic Indonesian flavors that don’t hold back. Every dish is deeply seasoned, beautifully balanced, and clearly made with pride. The sambals are vibrant and unforgettable, and the proteins are cooked to perfection. Warm, welcoming vibes and food meant to be shared and savored. A true gem on Ventura Blvd and absolutely worth returning to.
