We were pleasantly surprised to see the menu has expanded a bit to include bao buns and wonton soup. As I noted to my wife during the meal, “dumplings are nature’s perfect food.” Obviously a joke, but also not really. A delicate wrapper, savory filling, comforting broth. Masa has absolutely nailed both the dumplings and the bao. They are thoughtful, well executed, and very welcome additions.
The fish is always fresh and well prepared. That consistency matters. Their unique rolls are actually unique, and more importantly, they are good. The Rock n’ Roll remains a perennial favorite in our house for good reason. It hits the perfect balance of spice, crunch, and flavor without trying too hard or becoming a novelty act.
The kitchen dishes are excellent, the staff is exceptionally polite and knowledgeable, and the experience is reliably comfortable. We have many fond memories of lunches and dinners here over the past 15 years, all accompanied by delightful Muzak versions of modern hits. We still miss the old Muzak Miley Cyrus era, which somehow made weekday lunches feel oddly profound.
A quick note on the wonton soup. The broth is very good, though it leans a bit heavier on sesame oil than some might prefer. I am not one of those people. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
Bottom line, Masa delivers exactly what you want. Well prepared sushi, solid kitchen dishes, kind service, and now bao and wontons that deserve to stick around. Consistency over time is hard to pull off, and Masa makes it look easy.
The miso soup was good along with the salad. The ramen was great and the soup base for it was tasty.
The service is very nice and I like how its a family business. Brings more of what to expect.

Forget trendy fads and fleeting flavors. Masa Suichi isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an institution. For fifteen glorious years, I’ve been returning to this gem, hole in the wall and it consistently reaffirms its place the best sushi restaurant in NJ.
The experience begins the moment you step inside. The atmosphere is small and instantly welcoming, a testament to the genuine warmth of owners Lee and Peter. Lee, with her radiant smile and unwavering attention to detail, greets each guest with her genuine personality. She remembered my preferences, ensuring every visit feels personalized and special.
And then there’s Peter, the culinary mastermind behind it all. He’s not just a sushi chef; he’s an artist, meticulously crafting each piece with passion and precision. The fish is undeniably the freshest, highest quality available, practically melting in your mouth. Peter’s masterful knife skills and impeccable understanding of flavor profiles elevate the sushi experience to an entirely new level. You can taste the difference – this isn’t mass-produced sushi; it’s a labor of love.
The menu is filled with delectable options, but I highly recommend starting with their rich and comforting Ramen Soup. It’s the perfect prelude to the main event. From there, dive into their signature dishes: Central Park Roll, Special Roll and Sushi Pizza ( appetizer).
What truly sets Masa Suichi apart is the unwavering consistency. The quality hasn’t wavered in fifteen years, a testament to their dedication and commitment to excellence. I’ve tried countless sushi restaurants throughout New Jersey, and none even come close to matching the quality and care found at Masa Suichi. And their prices haven’t changed, they are very reasonable for the exceptional quality they offer.
Whether you’re a seasoned sushi aficionado or a hesitant newcomer, Masa Suichi is the place to be. It’s the perfect spot to experience the magic of truly exceptional sushi, prepared with love and served with unparalleled hospitality. Trust me, one visit and you’ll understand why I’ve been a loyal patron for fifteen years, and why I’ll continue to be for many more to come. Don’t just eat sushi, experience it at the best . Go to Masa Suichi.
Will definitely be back!
