$17.37 for the Pepper Steak with no fries or drink ~ Solid but not impressive, not cheap either. A good option, indoor seating, and football on tv with a few beers on draft. A nice casual quick bite spot

Just had the most incredible lunch at Phillies in San Francisco and I’m still dreaming about it! As a cheesesteak enthusiast, I’m always skeptical of places outside of Philadelphia, but this spot completely won me over. I ordered the Rocky Balboa and it was nothing short of spectacular. The sandwich came beautifully wrapped in paper (keeps it nice and warm!) and was perfectly constructed – a soft yet sturdy roll packed with thinly sliced, seasoned steak that was incredibly tender. The colorful mix of sautéed bell peppers added the perfect sweet crunch and brightness to balance the savory meat. What impressed me most was the attention to detail – the meat was perfectly seasoned and not greasy at all. The bread had that ideal chewy-yet-soft texture that held everything together without falling apart (a true art!). The staff was friendly and efficient, and the place has that no-nonsense, authentic vibe that makes you feel like you’ve been transported straight to South Philly. If you’re craving an authentic cheesesteak experience in SF, look no further than Phillies. This Rocky Balboa knockout has made me a regular customer for sure! Worth every penny and definitely coming back to try their other variations soon.

I just dropped in to see if they had a bathroom, they did.
Before I could say thanks and hit the door they blew my mind with the smell of garlic and sweet peppers, so I got a cheese-steak with provolone. The quality steak was noticeable, and by the time I got to the corner, caused me to run right back for another one with the cash in my hand! The crispy soft bread held everything, heavy and juicy, together clean and dry, perfectly. Big sandwich. Grateful

2026 update: One of my friends forwarded me a social media reel and Phillies has been our list to visit again. The food is good here. We had a Rocky Balboa cheese steak $22, garlic tots $6, onion rings $5 and a Coke $2.50. The Rocky Balboa cheese steak is supposed to be extra meat and cheese. A regular one would have been fine as this was indeed a lot of meat and cheese. The garlic tots were tasty. An adequate amount of garlic made it burn. The onion rings were served with ranch sauce. No complaints. This was a good meal. Service was fast at 9pm on a Saturday. Good job Phillies. I like their motto of “Serving everyone with brotherly love.”

Original review: The burger at Phillies is alright. I had a cheeseburger w/egg $13, garlic fries $5.15 and a can of soda $2.50. It was kind of weird they melt the cheese on the tomato instead of the patty. They use shredded romaine lettuce and chopped grilled onions. I had to ask for raw onions and it came chopped as well. The patty needed more flavor. As for service, I ordered garlic tots but they guy gave me garlic fries. I hate to see food go to waste so I didn’t say anything. My food was given to someone else and the other patron had to let the cashier know this wasn’t his food. The cashier is also the line chef. It does get loud in there when the other chef is clinging his metal spatulas on the metal grill.

I have been here a couple times, usually when I am craving for a Philly cheesesteak or when I am in the area with a big appetite. The staffs here are very welcoming, well trained and understanding where there was never an issue in any of my visits. Their menu consists of the original Philly cheesesteak, other types of cheesesteaks, sandwiches, fries, drinks, etc. Everything is made from scratch which is always a plus for me and I never mind the wait since I am a very patient person. You can dine in, order for takeout or order through a delivery app. For dine in you can sit on the bar counter or at one of their tables. This place is a plus, because there is not many cheesesteak shops in the area. I highly recommend this place to all Philly cheesesteak enthusiasts, if you are starving, or for anyone looking to try something new. I definitely will be back to tryout the other delicious options they have to offer.

I’ve been coming here for years ! Always the best service. And the biggest selection of Sodas!! If you like craft sodas. Frosty cream soda. Big Red , and many other small crafts. the beer selection is great!! Almost everything you need. The cheesewhiz and peppers are a must, to add on your cheese steak ! If you can find parking , this is a great spot to check out. Even if you want some hot wings!!

Love the classic Philly here! They give you a lot of steak and I always go with the cheese wiz for that classic Philly cheese steak flavor. The service is always so friendly, and the restaurant decorations just give you Philly vibes.

Where’s the cheese? Ordered a cheesesteak sandwich with peppers and provolone through DoorDash. Good bread, steak is tasty etc, but where’s the cheese? There’s was so little cheese in this sandwich that it could hardly be called a cheesesteak.
Overall a good sandwich, freshly made, and delivered quickly, but I can’t hide my disappointment. I will probably order again and hope this was just a one off.

Hands down, the best around. I’ve heard from others that these cheesesteaks are better than the ones in Philly. I’ve never been to Philadelphia, so I can neither confirm or refute that.

That being said, in my honest opinion since this place first opened I was blown away at how good these cheesesteaks are. Every time I would either bring someone here or bring them a cheesesteak from here, they loved it too. I’ve managed to try every cheesesteak on the menu and they’re all incredibly good. I’m very partial towards the Rocky Balboa or the Buffalo Steak with provolone and everything on it.
I also love the fact that they’ve expanded their sides too. Nothing beats good ol’ chili cheese fries, tater tots or beer battered mushrooms.
The owner is an awesome dude and usually at the counter taking orders and cooking, incredibly friendly and cool. I’m always happy to visit.
I can’t recommend this place enough, it’s the only place I ever get cheesesteaks.

(COVID era note: half-door counter so you can walk up to place order or pick up without going inside)

Felt like I was back in Philly! Amoroso rolls! I’m not really a soda drinker but I have to say Sprecher and River City root beers are both amazing. Couldn’t pick my favorite.
